From the director...
Planning for summer begins back in the bleak cold days of January. Staff starts the process with making phone calls to performers and programmers to get on their busy schedules. The calendar of events begins to take shape with a focus on a little something for everyone. Innovative new concepts develop as we draw inspiration from the annual theme. This year, the them is truly inspirational: "Build a Better World." We took this both literally and figuratively in our planning. Our summer programming, for children and adults, develops community, educates our library members about environmental issues, invites play and exploration, and encourages all to give back by donating food items to the Hudson Valley Food Bank as well as the Hudson Valley SPCA. We will celebrate our precious Earth, ceremoniously, with a 4th of July "float" that involves us carrying a beautiful replica of the Earth through the streets of Cornwall, handing seed packets out along with treats. Come build a better world with us, and in the process, strengthen community and connection in Cornwall.
Happy Summer!
