Human Rights and Peace Studies Minors
The International Studies Program is a multidisciplinary program that offers eleven majors and twelve minors, some specializing in specific regions of the world and some in topics of concern to the global community.  Two newer minors are offered in human rights and peace studies.  The human rights minor addresses such questions as: What forms do human rights take?  Which of them are widely accepted and which are widely contested?  What are the bases of advocacy and contestation, and what are the implications for individuals and community with regard to the denial or granting of rights.  The goal of the peace studies minor is to produce graduates with the knowledge, skills and ethical foundation to be effective researchers, practitioners and advocates for peace and social justice.  For each of these minors, two courses may overlap with GE requirements. To learn more about the Department's programs of study, contact the associate director, Karlene Foster ( [email protected]) or call 614-292-9657 for an appointment.
