Cannabis Legalization Update
On April 13, 2017, the federal government tabled cannabis legalization and enforcement legislation (Bill C-45 and Bill C-46), with the intention of legalizing cannabis by July 2018. Since that time, UBCM has worked to engage its membership, the provincial government, and other key stakeholders, regarding a cannabis legalization framework and important issues and implications.

New round of 2017/18 C2C Funding Now Available
Applications are now being accepted under the fall intake of the 2017/18 Regional Community to Community (C2C) Forum program. C2C provides funding to bring First Nations and local governments from across BC together to discuss common goals and opportunities for joint action. For more information, visit the

Monaghan Awarded FCM Roll of Honour
 UBCM past president Joanne Monaghan (1994-1996) is the most recent recipient of FCM's Roll of Honour Award, where she served as President from 2000-2001. The Award honours leaders in local government, recognizing their outstanding contribution to FCM and to municipal government in Canada. Read more
