Has the NIMBY pendulum swung too far?
 
Growth has been part of the DNA of this country since long before its founding.  America grew from a small breakaway part of England to the dominant player on the world stage because of the industrious people of this country building and growing our public and private infrastructure.  This relatively unimpeded growth served us well for many years - right up until the later stages of the industrial revolution when the public at large came to the realization that we were destroying our environment and the places that we loved.

One of the responses to this was a strong and organized environmental movement, efforts which brought us rules and regulations which would allow development but in a more controlled, orderly fashion...

AMBASSADOR OF THE MONTH
Kali Calloway - Impact Hub

Kali Calloway was born in Santa Barbara and raised in the Santa Ynez Valley before moving to Kansas City, MO for high school. A vivacious people person, she became involved in church ministries, non-profit organizations and contributed to outreach programs focused on improving her community. 

She quickly found her passion was helping others and bringing people together. Upon graduating high school, she was accepted into YWAM - a Youth Missions University in Colorado. There she facilitated local, nationwide and global missions aimed at building churches...

When Jim and Yvonne Parsons opened OsteoStrong in 2015 they had no idea the influence it would have on the Santa Barbara community. 

But going strong two years on they are astonished not only by the number of people who are using OsteoStrong but the positive results their members are getting. 

"When you see someone's strength improve it's easy to see the effect. Members aren't using canes and walkers to get around...

November of 2017 will see a number of important local matters on our election ballots, not the least of which is the election of three City Council members and a new Mayor of Santa Barbara.
 
To help wade through all of the issues that are helping to drive this election, the Chamber has circulated questionnaires to all announced candidates.  Those candidates have responded back, and we've posted their responses, verbatim, on our website.  You can find those answers at the links below.

If your back-up battery is missing or dead you may have lost all your programs and your timer will go on default which can double your water bill!
