20 STUDENTS GRADUATE INAUGURAL CITIZENS ACADEMY CLASS
Program gave participants a look into how government functions

Washington County recently wrapped up their first ever Citizens Academy. The course kicked-off Thursday, April 20 as the class learned about county administration and ag business development. The goal of the course was to create ambassadors and educate citizens on the County's various departments and what it takes
to run the County smoothly and efficiently.

HAGERSTOWN REGIONAL AIRPORT INFUSES MILLIONS INTO THE LOCAL ECONOMY
HGR is a key economic driver for the county and surrounding region

Hagerstown Regional Airport would like to announce the findings of their recently completed impact study.  The study was conducted by Martin Associates and focused on the important role HGR plays in stimulating the local economy.  The study analyzed the impact HGR has on revenue, employment, income and taxes.

Gaming Commission awards nearly $2 million

The Washington County Gaming Commission recently announced its gaming fund distribution to the Washington County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, as well as 75 local charitable organizations.

Washington County Division of Emergency Services announced
a partnership with Nextdoor to share important news and updates, provide preparedness information and communicate with residents before, during and after times of emergency.

Washington County Government upgraded its permitting software from Accela Permits Plus to Accela Automation, on May 1 of this year.

FOUNTAIN ROCK ELEMENTARY WINS RECYCLING CHALLENGE
Grosh's Lawn Service Phone Book Recycling Challenge encourages students to recycle phone books 
 
As a result of Washington County student efforts, 5,325 phone books were recycled saving six cubic yards of space in the County Landfill as part of the Grosh's Lawn Service 2017 Phone Book Recycling Challenge.
