Don't forget the Gracious Greens Planting!
Saturday, September 9th,
8:00 a.m. at the Poplar Tent/Pitts School Road plot
Return to Normal Worship Schedule
This Sunday, please note that we return to a two-service schedule with worship in the sanctuary at both 8:45 and 11 a.m. We also want to share that, based on the responses we received from the recent Strategic Planning survey, the Session has approved some gentle changes to the worship experience at the 8:45 a.m. service. Generally speaking, the atmosphere will be more quiet and contemplative. Most music will be played on the piano, and we will encourage seating near the front of the sanctuary to increase the sense of community felt by worshipers. Our liturgy will remain Reformed, and the basic elements of the service will be very familiar. We are excited and hopeful that a different type of worship offering will deepen and broaden the spiritual experience we are able to offer here at First Presbyterian Church.
Please note that the order and feel of the 11 a.m. service will remain consistent with prior practices.
Habitat for Humanity
Our church is scheduled for its annual Habitat Workday on Saturday, September 23rd from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Magnolia Crossing in Concord, 28027.  The activity will most likely be wall framing, but this is subject to change as the project develops.  We will need workers to perform the manual labor and supporters to provide drinks, snacks and lunch.  Construction manager Bob will be present to lead us along.  Please sign up on the church website or through the church office.  Feel free to contact coordinator Harris Morrison  with questions.
Rally Day and Potluck Luncheon
On Sunday, September 10th, come  celebrate with your church family as we kick off the Fall season! The 8:45 and 11:00 o'clock services return and all ages are invited to gather at 9:45 a.m. in Davis Hall to learn about all the educational and faith building opportunities you can experience during the Sunday School hour. To cap off such a wonderful day, you are invited to the Potluck Luncheon in Davis Hall following the 11:00 service.  Volunteers will be in kitchen starting at 9:30 a.m. to receive food before church.

On Sunday, September 17th, the Todd Hobbie class will begin a 12-session study of the apostle Paul's engagement with the Roman Empire. Anchored by the contributions of renowned scholars Marcus Borg and John Crossan, the study will follow the format of last year's "Living the Questions" series. Come join us each Sunday in Davis Hall for study, good discussions and fellowship.
Christian Formation Resource Room
Have you wanted to study a particular book of the Bible or learn more about an important faith figure? Perhaps you've wanted to be in a discussion about living your faith in today's world. There is a resource room that has numerous books on these subjects that are perfect for small group discussions, class studies, and personal reflection.
In room E206 of the Education Building you will find many books that can be used by anyone in the church. They have been organized in several categories: Biblical Studies, Figures of faith, Foundations of Faith and Contemporary studies, Liturgical seasons (studies specific to Advent and Lent), Presbyterian Women's studies, and Kerygma books.  Please drop by and look at some of the resources  available, and grab something new to study and enrich your faith and life.  If you have any questions about them, talk with Rachel Vogado.
