What started as a wonderful idea four years and four months ago, is now finally a reality.  The partnership between Mercy (Don Kalicak), Unlimited Play (Natalie Mackay) and the City has brought a new playground for children with all abilities, and a new park to Cottleville.  It was my pleasure to be a part of the special celebration and ribbon cutting of McAuley's Playground, and the opening of Hansen's Park on August 25th (behind Mercy Kids).  I would truly like to thank all of the donors who made this possible, but would like to especially thank the Mercy Foundation, the DDRB (Developmental Disabilities Resource Board of St. Charles County), Catch 22 (St. Louis Cardinals Coach Mike Matheny's charitable organization), and the Cottleville Firefighters Outreach.  Without the support of these organizations and all of the wonderful people of Cottleville that donated their time and money, this project would have never been possible.  I hope all of Cottleville and the surrounding area will enjoy this new City Park for years to come.

Sincerely,
Mayor Jim Hennessey

Special thanks again to all the
McAuley's Playground donors:

Missouri Route 364 and Gutermuth Road Update
A new interchange is slated for construction in 2020 on Page Avenue at Gutermuth Road. Adding this third interchange to the approximately 5-mile stretch between Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Route K is expected to reduce congestion at 364/Mid Rivers and 364/Highway K. Cost of the project is estimated at $9 million. St. Charles County Road Board will contribute $4.5 million from county sales taxes,  $1.5 million will come from federal gas taxes and MoDOT will contribute $3 million.
Pitman Cemetery
Improvements  Underway

The City of Cottleville partnered with Lombardo Homes to preserve the Pitman Cemetery located in the new Legacy of Patriots Pointe subdivision at 6320 Highway N. The decorative gate is under construction and fencing will soon be erected around the Pitman cemetery.  A walkway access and parking will also be added.  The Daughters of the American Revolution are planning an initial cemetery clean up and tombstone repair, however, the City plans to ensure proper care of the cemetery going forward through the HOA agreements.

**John Pitman was born March 14, 1753, in Bedford County, Virginia. During the Revolutionary War, Pitman served in the Virginia and Kentucky Militia. In 1810, Pitman purchased the George Hoffman Farm along the Dardenne Creek. It was said Pitman was a clear-thinking, hard-working farmer whose judgment was respected. In 1812, Congress made the Territory of Missouri to avoid confusion with the recently admitted state of Louisiana. Congress authorized the voters to elect a territorial legislature composed of House of Representatives and a Council. John Pitman and Robert Spencer were elected to represent the people of the District (County) of St. Charles in the 13 member House of Representatives. Well known for his integrity, John Pitman was selected to serve in several other positions including; grand juror, tobacco inspector, and he was commissioned a colonel in the state militia. John Pitman died January 1, 1839 at the age of 85
