It's always good to ask the question: Where can we obtain ideas for building the light weight pulp and paper facility? One way is to look at technologies that require lightweight design. Two easy examples are ships and airplanes. Weight has always been a factor here. Granted, it is more likely we can find applicable examples in ships than we can in planes (we are not going to make components out of titanium solely based on a weight consideration), but the point is weight has not been an issue for us, dealing with systems firmly anchored to the ground.
One of our driving thoughts here at the Light Green Machine Institute is simply this: we never think about weight in our facilities and hence, over the years, we have cost ourselves a great deal of money in capital and operating costs, by the steady drip, drip, drip of adding weight.
