REGISTER TODAY FOR OCTOBER 18TH CONNECTING OUR FUTURE
KICKOFF EVENT

Be sure and join Upstate leaders and interested stakeholders on October 18th for the kickoff to a year-long effort focused on increasing mobility and connectivity while reducing traffic congestion across the 10-county Upstate region.

Born from the Shaping Our Future Growth Scenarios Analysis, Connecting Our Future is an effort to create a regional vision and strategies for transportation, mobility, and connectivity in the ten county Upstate, led by Ten at the Top. The effort is being supported by the Connecting Our Future Coalition, made up of stakeholders representing various geographical areas and sectors.

The initiative will last for roughly a year, resulting in a regional vision document and related strategies for reducing congestion, moving people & freight across the region safely, and improving health and quality of life for Upstate residents by reducing emissions. Results of the initiative will be unveiled at a Roll Out Event to be held in Summer 2018. Visit the Connecting Our Future website for more information.

The October 18th event at the TD Convention Center will include breakout sessions looking at various components of connectivity and mobility as well as a keynote luncheon presentation by Carla Bailo, Assistant VP for Mobility Research & Business Development, Ohio State University. Carla helps coordinate Ohio State's involvement
as the primary research partner for Smart Columbus, a $140 million grant program to transform central Ohio into the nation's premier transportation innovation region.

YOU ARE INVITED TO THE UPSTATE INTERACTIVE MAP COMMUNITY LAUNCH ON SEPTEMBER 26TH
Ten at the Top's Senior Issues Group and Child Well-Being Network have been hard at work to create a new resource for Upstate citizens and service providers: interactive resource maps.

The maps were created to serve as a database of services and organizations, offering helpful information to users such as: location, website, services offered, and even a link to turn-by-turn driving directions.
Sharing these maps and the information contained within them is easy - we have provided the embed code right on the website. Please feel free to embed the maps on your site and help residents of the Upstate find the services they need.
To read more about the maps please check out last week's Uniquely Upstate feature article,   "Ten at the Top is Mapping Out Services for Upstate Children & Seniors".

The new interactive maps are being launched on September 26th at an event and reception being held at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. If you would like to join us on September 26th for the Community Launch, please click here to RSVP.

SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT PROVIDERS WORKSHOP SERIES:
NEXT SESSION SEPTEMBER 12TH
Small Business Support Professionals met on July 18th for their third workshop: Programs, Progress, and Accountability.

Workshop attendees were seated in small groups that rotated several times over the course of the workshop. Attendees were given the task of meeting as many support providers as possible to learn about the programs and services they offered.

Attendees left the workshop with a sheet full of contacts on information that can be used to assist entrepreneurs and small businesses.

The next workshop, Coaching & Capital, on September 12th will be a combined event for the Small Business Support Providers and the   Upstate Alternative Capital Providers . This combined workshop will allow support providers to learn about alternative funding sources in the Upstate and vice versa.

Please click here to RSVP for Coaching & Capital.

HUGHES INVESTMENTS ELEVATE UPSTATE GRANT APPLICATION DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 15TH
Each year, Ten at the Top awards two grants of up to $5,000 each to help fund public art, events, or beautification efforts that increase community vibrancy. These grants are made possible by a funding commitment from Phil Hughes, President of Hughes Investments, who sees the positive impact of arts, culture, and vibrancy within our communities.

Grant applications are now available on the Ten at the Top website and will be accepted until September 15th. Eligible entities include neighborhood associations, civic or community based organizations, nonprofit organizations, or local governments.

Finalists will be chosen by a judging panel and will give a pitch at the November 16th Celebrating Successes Forum, after which the judging panel will select the winners.

A workshop for communities and organizations wanting to learn more about the Hughes Investments Elevate Upstate Grants was held on June 14. You can check out the workshop video.

To learn more about the grant and past grant winners, please visit the Hughes Investments Elevate Upstate Grants webpage.
