Dear Friends and Neighbors:

September 4, 2017 Update:

RESIDENTS IN IMPACTED AREAS ARE ASKED TO PLEASE CONTINUE LIMITING USE OF WASTEWATER UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

The City of Houston's West District and Turkey Creek Wastewater Treatment plants  remain flooded in up to 8 feet of water as of Monday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m.  Please see the picture below.  City of Houston Water crews and partners in the Energy Corridor are working together to try to restore the wastewater treatment plants as quickly as possible.

and on Twitter @HoustonPWE

Houston water is safe to drink.    The City of Houston's drinking water remains SAFE; this includes the tap water that comes out of the faucet.

Wastewater is water that goes down the drain and into the sanitary sewer system. In homes this includes water from sinks, showers, bathtubs, toilets, washing machines and dishwashers.

Houston Water is asking the community in the impacted areas to please help conserve wastewater to avoid sanitary sewer backups.  A few ways to help conserve wastewater include minimizing laundry use, taking shorter showers, not running the dishwasher, and flushing the toilet a little less.

Residents in the purple or beige shaded impacted areas shown below are asked to please help Houston Water by limiting their use of  water for showers, baths, laundry, dishes or toilets until further notice .  This includes portions of District G in the following zip codes: 77077, 77079, and 77024.

A larger map of the impacted areas may be found here:  http://www.houstontx.gov/council/g/images/limit-water-use.png

This is a request to LIMIT use of Wastewater.  It is NOT an order.  If you have been mucking out your house all day, we understand you may need to take a quick shower. We understand your need to flush the toilet.

IF YOU ARE NOT ON OUR EMAIL LIST, PLEASE SIGN UP SO YOU WILL RECEIVE OUR UPDATES.
