Time To Talk Pumpkin Patch.
Well if you can believe it, it is time to start preparing for the Pumpkin Patch.  We are only 3 plus weeks from our first delivery. We will be working on September 4th (Labor Day) in which we will unload the patch shed (9a-4p).  We'll start hanging lights, continue to cut and paint the characters, and start building the interactive elements.

Then on September 10th, we will have our Pumpkin Patch Rally from 6 to 8p. Students traditionally get an hour for being at the rally.  It is also their first opportunity to sign up for shifts.  We allow upperclassmen to go first as their schedules tend to be more limited, followed by lowerclassmen and then middle schoolers. All parents, students, and pumpkin patch workers are encouraged to attend.

Our first unloading is September 23rd at 8am.

We also need friends to sign up for committees.  You can do just that at www.firstchurchpo.org/pumpkinpatch.  Check to see which committee is right for you.

So join us as it's time to get busy and prepare for another big fundraising season.  We need lot's of help.
Rock the Universe

Friday September 8th, High Schoolers attending the Rock the Universe event are asked to be at the church at 3:30pm on Friday September 8th

The Parents at Parent Connect have scheduled a couple of vehicles leaving from both middle schools (Silver Sands and Creekside) at 341pm and to meet at Khol's Parking Lot by 4pm.

UPDATE: Medic Air Systems Inc (Ron Steele's Company) has made a donation to the students and chaperones for Rock the Universe trip and has purchased the dinners on behalf of the students/adults.  The dinner will consist of a chick-fil-a sandwich, chips, apple and at bottle of water.  Students will NOT need to pay $5.00 for the Chick-fil-a dinner. Students are also welcome to bring alternate snacks and drinks (they must be twist top lids for them to consume them on the buses)

We will return back at First Church at 3:30am and students have the option to sleep at the church until 8:00am or to be picked up at 3:00 by a parent to return home.  We can not accommodate a pickup time other than 3:00am or 8:00am as the leaders will be sleeping too.

Parent and Adult Leader Chaperones can go for only $40 * each. So sign up today and get those deposits in.  You won't want to miss this Rock-In' event.

*Must be willing to provide and participate in chaperoning duties

Bring a Friend Month

Starting August 14th through September 30th.

We will be having our annual Bring a Friend Month Event. We are excited to once again offer FOUR AMAZING PRIZES!!  So here's how it works this year.

A student invites a friend who has NEVER been to youth group before. These are NEW friends that they meet at school or on a team.  They can invite them to Venture, Discover or Pursuit and Xplore (as long as they are in the appropriate grades).  They will get an entry into the bring a friend box for their grade.
-They can get up to three entries per friend if they visit three different times.
-Their friends can get credit for inviting friends too.
-At the end of the month, we will draw two (separate) names from each of the two boxes (high school and middle school)
-Between the 4 winners, in order of who brought the most friends, will get to choose their reward first, the 2nd most will go 2nd, etc. etc.
-If there is a tie, we will determine a winner by random draw.
-So far we can expect to see the rewards as; a Samsung Tablet, a $200 credit to any camp or retreat, a Giant 8' Foam Surfboard and an HP Elitebook.

So start asking your friends to come to youth group.  You could be the one to take home an awesome prize.
Silver Sands Parents
If your student is enrolling in Silver Sands Middle School this upcoming school year and you would like permission for them to eat with Tony outside of the cafeteria, then you must write on their emergnency card his information and that they have permission to have lunch with.  Check "NO" for Pick-Up and Custody but write in LUNCH ONLY.  My information is below. Creekside students does not need to do this as far as I know.
