Dear Seventh and Eighth Grade Families,
We are moving our scheduled seventh grade trip to Hueston Woods State Park and our eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C., by one day. Both trips will start one day earlier and return one day earlier.
  • Grade 7 Trip to Hueston Woods: Tuesday, October 17, through Thursday, October 19
  • Grade 8 Trip to Washington: Monday, October 16, through Thursday, October 19
We discovered that the original schedule for these trips conflicted with the Hindu celebration of Diwali. The most central date for this year's "Festival of Lights" is Thursday, October 19. With our updated schedule, students will return on the 19th and not have to choose between participating in the trip and an important celebration with their families.

The seventh-graders traditionally return from their trip before the end of the school day. That will remain the same, and they can go home by normal means at dismissal time.

The eighth-graders typically return around 7:30 p.m., but we have arranged to leave Washington a little earlier without missing any elements of the trip, so expect their return an hour earlier.

There will be school on Friday, October 20, for the students. The seventh and eighth grade teams will determine how that day is used.

As always, thank you for your support and cooperation.
Sincerely,

Bob McGrath
Interim Head of Middle School
