Stallions in the Spotlight

This summer,
Andrea Grassbaugh '15 (pictured middle) was selected for a three-week medical internship abroad in Genoa, Italy, through the organization "The Atlantis Project." This organization works with undergraduate pre-medical students interested in international travel and preparation for entrance exams such as the GRE and MCAT, providing an internship alongside this training. During her time in Genoa, she was placed in Ospedale San Martino -- the largest teaching hospital in Europe. She had the opportunity to shadow general, orthopedic, and vascular surgical rotations in company with residency students worldwide. Andrea is currently at Walsh University studying Biology and Pre-PA.

Jessica Johnson '12  was selected by the the Ohio Federation of Republican Women as the Ohio nominee for the   National Federation of Republican Women's Pathfinder Scholarship, a scholarship created to honor Nancy Reagan.  The National Federation received 50 applicants, one from every state, and after deliberation, she was one of three applicants to receive a $2,500 scholarship that will go towards paying for her final year of grad school at Ohio State, for a Masters in Public Administration.

Congratulations to Mrs. Jean Garrick for receiving the Ohio Council of Mathematics Secondary Teacher Award for the Central District. She will be recognized at a banquet later this fall.

We welcomed back several alumni at the annual Night of Tradition last Saturday. The senior football players enjoyed meeting some of our alumni from the 1997 State Championship team. A special thanks to Tom Weilbacher '98 who spoke to the crowd that evening.

Thank you!

Thank you to all who participated in the 4th Annual Lennon Loop.  While the weather was a bit soggy it did not detract from a very successful event.  We had 499 registered participants, which was the second highest total since the inception of the event.  The event was a great example of the sense of family that is a foundational piece of this special place.

Well Wishes

Dr. Joe Brettnacher, the Episcopal Moderator and Superintendent for our Diocese, tendered his resignation to relocate to Indianapolis where Dr. Joe will serve as Principal of Scecina Memorial Catholic High School. Dr. Brettnacher has been a staunch supporter of Saint Francis DeSales High School during his tenure with the Diocese of Columbus. The Diocese will be conducting an Open House for Dr. Brettnacher today, Wednesday, August 2 from 1-3 at the Diocesan Education Office (197 East Gay Street, Columbus, Ohio).
Daily Reflection

Heavenly Father, in these days of summer, may seeds planted sprout and grow. Where there has been storm or drought, may renewal in hope soon follow. Through these days of summer, please bless the children at play. May they always trust in You, who desire that none go astray. While the days of summer bring longing to be carefree, please comfort all who suffer, whether in soul or mind or body. Thank You for summer days, offering again the chance to see in Your creation a reflection of love's abundance. Amen.
