A WORD FROM HILARY

End of Summer Blessings! I pray you have enjoyed a good and restful summer; and as it has been filled with opportunities for ministry and mission, I hope you have enjoyed much reward for your good labors! It has been a busy summer for your General Presbyter in our local churches: preaching, praying, and bene-dicting in Madison, Nacoochee, Monticello, Cleveland, and Milledgeville; training and working with Pastor and Associate Pastor Nominating Committees at Reid Memorial, Gainesville First, Clarkesville First, Athens First, and most recently, Greensboro First; working with interim pastors and Sessions at Belle Terrace and Cornelia First; and celebrating milestones for pastors and churches...more than I could attend! Also I observed a week of prayer, study, and personal retreat in solitude and silence, quieting my mind and heart through centering and contemplative prayer to be receptive to the Holy Spirit, opening myself to be a place where God may dwell. In the words of the Letter to the Ephesians, we are called "to be built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God" (2.22).

The Coordinating Team continues to work on various matters to ensure the smooth operation of Northeast Georgia Presbytery and has identified a need for more members on the Congregational Connections Ministry Team. If you, or someone you know, is interested in the youth of NEGAP, leadership development, connecting congregations in missions and camps and conference ministry, please contact Fred DiMaio (pastor at Clayton) who chairs the Nominating Committee and indicate your interest in the Congregational Connections Ministry Team.

As we look toward the 2017-18 school year and the return to familiar patterns of Fall in Northeast Georgia, pause and pray with me: For the days, weeks and months of this summer, we give you thanks, Eternal God. For the work in mission and ministry to which you have called us to participate with you, we praise you, Lord Jesus Christ. And for the energy, power, and love which bind us together with you and one another, we celebrate our fellowship and mutual love in the Holy Spirit. One God, Three persons: the mystery of the Trinity! As the days of summer wane, and the promise of the future gives us hope, we ask your grace to sustain and encourage us in our continuing journey of faith. Be with us and go before us, as we follow you. Alleluia! Amen.
