The Grass Valley-Nevada City and Truckee cultural districts are both situated within Nevada County and join a dozen other districts that will launch the innovative new program highlighting thriving cultural diversity and unique artistic identities within California, home to the country's leading creative economy.

A cultural district, as outlined by the program, is a well-defined geographic area with a high concentration of cultural resources and activities. If you have lived in Nevada County for any length of time you know the Mike Bratton Family.

Mike has been a key, and visible, Nevada County community member for many years. He has resided in Nevada County since 1979, beginning his career as Mike Bratton State Farm Insurance Agency in 1984. His business has grown to eight employees who are very much like family, if not family!  Mike Bratton is known for his generous community contributions, professionally and philanthropically.

"I love being a part of this community. And KVMR is one of my many partners," said Mike Bratton. "We are rich with so many different interests and types of people that live here and that is what makes our community what it is. Sports. Music. Culture. Nice people. And KVMR reaches those people. Mike's son, Joey Bratton, is the founder of Fit Culture Studio in Nevada City. Joey takes pride in motivating his clients by encouraging them to achieve their personal goals and do their best. His passion for functional movement, athletic performance, and overall wellness are what inspired him to pursue a career in fitness and wellness.

In 2015, Mike donated his famous Nevada City Soap Box Derby art car "Tow Mader" to KVMR Community Radio, which is being 

"upgraded" for this fall's 2017 event. The kids love "Tow Mader,"
