ArtWorks!2017 is a juried show of original artwork inspired by the scenery of Mount Desert Island. It is an important fundraiser for the Preserve and proceeds from the sale of all work equally benefit the artist and the Preserve.

About the Land & Garden Preserve
The history of the Mount Desert Land & Garden Preserve began when David and Peggy Rockefeller formed the Island Foundation as a means to provide in perpetuity for the private gardens and lands they cared about so deeply.
I
n 1970, at the request of the Town of Mount Desert, the Foundation incorporated in order to take on the additional management responsibilities and care of the Asticou Azalea Garden. In 1999, Thuya Garden and Lodge, Asticou Terraces and Asticou Landing also came under the management of the Foundation, and its name was changed to the Mount Desert Land & Garden Preserve.
A donation of 1,022+ acres of land around and including Little Long Pond by David Rockefeller, Sr., in 2015 is the latest addition to the Preserve. Today, the Preserve manages and cares for 1,165+ acres of historic gardens, lands and trails for the enjoyment of all visitors.
