A Romance Novella Set in 1950s
Book Description:
Alice loses herself in grief and can't find her way back.
In 1954, twenty-six-year-old Alice Patterson undergoes a pregnancy loss that affects everything and everyone she touches. Emotionally and physically drained, she must come to terms with her traumatic loss or risk losing her husband, her best friend, and her sanity.
Her best friend JayNell and her husband Paul offer Alice support and comfort. She persists in her grieving, which hinders her healing. The doctor advises there is no normal recovery period for what Alice has undergone. Time is her best ally.
In her small southern Mississippi town, her church Sewing Circle's new project triggers an unsettling setback to Alice's recovery. Afterward, she succumbs to suspicions of Paul's infidelity that causes her collapse, from which she may not recover.
Paul's unspoken goal is that they will recapture the love they held for one another on their wedding day. He's hopeful that the approaching spring season will bring a reawakening of the Alice he married, as it brings a newness to all living things.
Amazon Reader Review:
"Really enjoyed this story and learning of all the resources available to others who suffer.
So many scriptures are quoted to help Alice heal. Love all the small things that do matter from her husband.
Love the style and ease of explaining what the scriptures mean in plain English.
Can't wait for more from this author."

Welcome, Patricia. What fun or unique things can you tell us about yourself?
I can still touch my toes without bending my knees after 13 years of Pilates; I have sky diving on my bucket list. I will probably never get around to everything on my bucket list. :)
Please describe yourself with three words.
ADHD. Oops, that's four. :)
How about energetic, stubborn, and a Jesus follower.
What do you enjoy doing for relaxation?
What relaxation? Even when I'm sitting still, I have to be doing something--usually knitting. See Patricia's office on the left where she stays busy.
Please tell us a little about your novel, Justice Buried.
In an effort to get her security consulting business off the ground, Kelsey Allen has been spending a lot of time up in the air, rappelling down buildings and climbing through windows to show business owners their vulnerabilities to thieves. When she is hired to pose as a conservator at the Pink Palace Museum in order to test their security weaknesses after some artifacts go missing, she's ecstatic. But when her investigative focus turns from theft to murder, Kelsey knows she's out of her league--and possibly in the cross hairs. When blast-from-the-past Detective Brad Hollister is called in to investigate, Kelsey may find that he's the biggest security threat yet . . . to her heart.
Crackling with romantic tension and laced with intrigue, this suspenseful story from award-winning author Patricia Bradley will keep readers guessing--and looking over their shoulders.

I recently read
Upon a Spring Breeze by Kelly Irvin, Zondervan, 337 pages, 2017. Kelly Irvin touches the very core of human frailty in this Amish story of Bess Weaver and Aidan Graber. Bess, a young widow and mother of an infant son, wonders if she will have joy and love again. A group of widows in her community offers their support and encouragement. Aidan has loved Bess forever, but he waits for her to accept him to step into the place vacated by the death of her son's father. Great characterizations and scene descriptions! Beautiful love story! A good read!

A police officer attempts to stop a car for speeding and the guy gradually increases his speed until he's topping 100 mph. The man eventually realizes he can't escape and finally pulls over.
The cop approaches the car and says, "It's been a long day and my shift is almost over, so if you can give me a good excuse for your behavior, I'll let you go."
The guy thinks for a few seconds and then says, "My wife ran away with a cop about a week ago. I thought you might be that officer trying to give her back!"

Guard Your Heart
"Above all else, guard your heart,
for it is the wellspring of life
."
Proverbs 4:23 NIV
First impressions count. Usually, we try just a little harder when we know we'll be around folks who've never met us.
Most of us want people to like us, so we'll do that extra something to ensure making a good first impression. We'll put on a happy face, maybe run a hand across our hair to replace strays.
However, we can make many first impressions on others without being aware that we do. Have you ever really looked at people in other cars you meet on city streets, or while waiting in traffic? Especially drivers without passengers.
How many look like they're enjoying the day? What sour expressions decorate some of their faces!
Sure, they're all alone in their cars, you say, so let them have their privacy. Okay, but we do look at each other. Wouldn't we rather view a pleasant face than a grouchy one?
Before we become too amused or too critical with our people-watching, have
we looked at ourselves in our own rearview mirror? I find room for improvement when I do.
We're all a walking billboard. What attitudes do we advertise? Impressions we make result from our facial expressions and voice just as much as from the clothes we choose. All our words, attitudes, smiles, or frowns start in the heart. The Bible teaches that the heart "is the wellspring of life." Diligence is necessary in the housekeeping of our heart, because what starts from within affects all aspects of our life. First impressions are lasting and, good or bad, they're hard to overcome.
