National Night Out Tomorrow
Communities throughout Folsom will partner with the Folsom Police Department Tuesday, August 1 for the Annual National Night Out, a nationwide program that promotes involvement in crime prevention, police-community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie. The Folsom Police Department, Folsom Fire Department and City officials will join hundreds of residents at neighborhood park and block parties that have been organized by local Neighborhood Watch groups. Attendees can expect to learn useful crime prevention information, have the opportunity to meet police officers and firefighters, and possibly even the Folsom Police Department K-9 or mounted units. For more information on National Night Out or how to start a Neighborhood Watch group, contact Jessica Hess, Folsom Police Department volunteer coordinator, at 916-351-3409 or [email protected].

Track Water Use and Avoid Leaks
The City of Folsom provides all residents with a free water usage and leak alert portal, Dropcountr, available today on Web, Android or Apple iOS. With Dropcountr, you and your family can track usage, make sense of price tiers, sign up for alerts, set goals and receive support, anytime, anywhere. You can also see how much your usage compares to neighbors with similar homes. Registering today can prevent unwanted usage and water damage tomorrow. Sign up today at the link below, or email the water conservation team at [email protected] for more info. You will need your account number and name as it appears on your bill to register. If you need help signing up, email [email protected] . Register here.

Join Folsom Parks & Recreation Saturday, August 5 for this great family fun event! The 2-mile obstacle course challenge includes mud pits, water slides, a hay bale tunnel, balance beams, giant inflatables, a foam tunnel, climbing walls, and lots of other wild and crazy features. Sidewalk Repairs at Folsom City Lions Park
Sidewalk repairs and upgrades at Folsom City Lions Park will require the closure of the large playground from August 14 to 25. The work area will be enclosed with temporary fencing, and signs have been posted  to notify the public about the upcoming closure.  The picnic pavilion, lawn area picnic tables and Play For All playground will remain open during construction.

Annual Garbage and Recycling Calendar
Folsom residents were mailed the annual Green Waste and Recycling Collection Calendar this July. The notice also included a SmartCart flyer, which lists acceptable materials for your different colored waste containers. To avoid scattered garbage on the street, Folsom residents are asked to put all loose trash in bags and then deposit the closed bags inside garbage cans. The annual calendar and other useful information can be found at www.folsom.ca.us/smartcart.

Ride in Style with Johnny Cash Trail Gear
Add a stylish new addition to your cycling wardrobe and show your support for this world-class project every time you ride! Men's and women's jerseys and shorts are available, and proceeds will help fund the first two public art installments on Folsom's Johnny Cash Trail. Stop by the Folsom Senior and Art Center at 48 Natoma Street, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to purchase your set.

Donors Needed for Upcoming Blood Drive
BloodSource must collect about 700 units of blood per day to meet local demands. However, only 38 percent of people in the U.S. are eligible to donate, and less than 10 percent actually do. Consequently, the lives of many depend on the generosity of a few. One donation has the potential to save as many as three lives. Consider donating blood on Tuesday, August 22 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:15 to 2:30 p.m. at the Folsom Public Library. To make an appointment to donate visit  www.bloodsource.org/drives and enter blood drive code D327. Call BloodSource at 1-800-995-4420 for questions about donation eligibility and more information.

Part-Time Job Opportunities
