Opiate Task Force Launches New Website
The new Summit County Opiate Task Force website was designed to be user friendly and mobile compatible. The website has pages targeted to specific groups and includes an increased number of videos and downloads.
Those visiting the site can learn more about the disease of addiction, local treatment and support resources and the work of the Summit County Opiate Task Force. There is also a "Take Action" page that outlines steps / activities that anyone can do to help end the opiate epidemic in our community.

Operation Street Smart Training - October 25th
Operation Street Smart provides current and up-to-date narcotics information on trends, terminology,
paraphernalia, concealment techniques, and physiological effects to those individuals who deal with
youth on a daily basis. This training is being co-sponsored by the County of Summit ADM Board, the Criminal Justice subcommittee of the Summit County Opiate Task Force and the city of Cuyahoga Falls.

The training
has been approved for 4.0 continuing education hours for counseling, social work, chemical dependency professionals, RN, LPN and psychology.

Deterra Project Celebrates Successful First Year
The Deterra Project is an initiative to reduce access to unused and expired prescription medications in Summit County and recently completed its first year of implementation. This project provides free drug deactivation pouches which safely neutralize prescription medicines in an environmentally friendly manner.
Summit County Community Partnership (SCCP) is working with over 40 community partners to distribute pouches with the goal of reducing the number of unused opiate medications by four million over five years. Close to forty thousand drug disposal pouches have been distributed in the last year.
Reducing access to substances is an evidence-based environmental prevention strategy which reduces misuse.
