Staff Spotlight
Meet Kate

This month the spotlight is on Katelyn Harger. Katelyn has worked at the Pond Hockey Club for nearly four years now. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska and raised in Texas.

Are you a hockey fan?
I am a hockey fan. My family likes the Texas Stars. That is kind of how I ended up working at an ice rink. My brother Corey started playing hockey and then my dad started playing too.

So does that mean the Dallas Stars are your favorite NHL team?
Yeah! We try to go up and see at least one game per season. Last year we saw them play the San Jose Sharks. I'd like to go to opening night this year when they play Las Vegas.

Were you mad, sad or happy when the Dallas Stars traded Jordie Benn to Montreal?
I was really bummed. He was my favorite. I still have a t-shirt signed by him. He was definitely my favorite so I was pretty bummed.

Do you have a favorite place to eat that's near the rink?
Mitch ( Rink Operations Manager Steven Mitchell) and I always get takeout from the Indian food place Tarka. I like that place a lot. It's really good. My sister and I like Lupe Tortilla too.

Do you have a nickname that you are willing to reveal?
Well Katelyn is already a nickname. My name is actually Katherine. And then Mitch started calling me Kate and it just kind of stuck.
