REFRESH, RENEW, REVIVE |  A renewal of Christianity began in 18th Century England that spread to America and prompted the birth of the Methodist Church. This awakening of faith was led by a diminutive priest and professor named John Wesley—his story is our story and it still speaks to us today. Join us as we explore our heritage, the defining characteristics of the Methodist Christian, and seek to renew our spiritual passion using Adam Hamilton’s book, Revival: Faith as Wesley Lived It.

DISCIPLE BIBLE STUDY - THE BOOK OF EXODUS
Beginning Tuesday, September 19, Rev. Galen Black will be teaching a Disciple Bible Study on the book of Exodus from 7-8:45 PM in the Conference Room. This is an 8 week study, followed by a class party on week 9.

Exodus recounts how the Hebrew people were enslaved for 430 years in Egypt and how God freed them from slavery and led them to the land God had promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants. In the process of journeying through the wilderness, God gave them the 10 Commandments to show them how to live as God's people.

Join us for a time of learning about the Bible stories and how they apply in our lives today.

Interested? Questions? Contact Rev. Galen Black at revgblack@aol.com or call me at 440-318-4505.
RESERVE YOUR SPACE FOR THE WOMEN'S RETREAT!
ANNUAL WOMEN’S RETREAT! Saturday & Sunday, October 21-22, 2017
Our 2017 Wayne Church Women’s Retreat team has been working hard to make 2017 our best Women’s Retreat ever. We are very hopeful that you will be able to join us! Michele Leonard spoke to the congregation about the retreat on July 23rd; we’ve captured her words below. We believe Michele’s comments convey that ALL are welcome with open arms. Our annual two-day retreat has become a highlight of the year for many of our women, and we would love to have you join us to experience it yourself. We are hoping to have women of all ages represented; we have so much to share with and learn from each other.

We will be using the book, The Ten Second Rule, as our discussion guide for the weekend and have them available for all participants as they register for the event. Once you’ve picked up your book, we encourage you to start reading it now. It makes great summer reading and it’s wonderful food for thought. At the same time, please encourage the other women at Wayne Church to join us. As noted, those of us who have been before understand what a special time this is for all of us.

This year we are asking that each of us make a $25 deposit to hold our spots (this helps us in our planning). (A total of $95 covers all meals, activities, and accommodations.) You may drop cash/check in the collection plate or at the church office. Alternatively, you can make this deposit online (under “Other”) at  www.wayneumc.org/GIVE. In all cases, please be certain to mark your payment “Women’s Retreat” so the office knows where to apply it.

Any questions or concerns, please reply to this email or reach out to any member of our retreat team as noted below.

Blessings,
The Women’s Retreat Team

Sue Scott, Janet French, Michele Leonard, Katie Quigley, Sandra Mills, Claudine Estrade, Jenny Wannenberg, Karen Bruno

SANCTUARY REFRESH PROJECT!
For more than 125 years, Wayne Church has been blessed with a beautiful, regular meeting place where we can gather, worship, learn, serve, and love. It is easy to take this blessing for granted, forgetting that it is a reflection not only of our members but a representation of the presence of God. Our current church building was constructed in 1966. Since that time we have added air-conditioning & ADA renovations (ramps, elevator), installed glass front doors and glass partition parlor doors. However, in the past 50+ years, there has been no true “upkeep” to our sanctuary, the worship center to our Wayne Church Family. Can you imagine living in your own family home for 50 years and never painting it, never repairing leaks and cracks, never replacing broken lights? Would your home feel loving and welcoming to your family or your guests? It is time for our Wayne Church family to turn our attention and our resources to being proper stewards of the physical blessings we all enjoy in our sanctuary.

To find out how you can play a part in accomplishing this project, pick up a pamphlet, talk to someone on the Sanctuary Refresh team, -OR- read more via the links below!
