Russell's Ritings,
Maurice Boyd was a long-time pastor of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in NYC. He once said in a sermon,
"Worship is the submission of the whole being to the object of worship,
It is to declare our need to be fulfilled by God,
To subject our desire to the control of God,
To quicken our conscience to the Holiness of God,
To feed the mind with the Truth of God,
To purge the imagination by the Beauty of God,
To open the heart to the Love of God,
To devote the will to the Purpose of God."
And Jesus said, "If you are to come after me and be my disciple, take up your cross and FOLLOW...."
Sunday's Sermon is "Power in the Cross", and the text is Mt 16: 24 - 26. "and the folks are friendly..."
Blessings,

NEW MEMBERS DENWOOD AND DANA BUTLER
Denwood and Dana Butler met in Tucson, Arizona when they were both attending the University of Arizona. Dana taught art and English and Denwood was an air traffic controller at Davis-Monthan AFB until he received two degrees in Fish and Wildlife biology. After getting married in 1972, Denwood joined Dana in becoming a member of the Presbyterian church.
They moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1977, where Denwood worked for the US Fish and Wildlife Service for five years, and Dana stayed home to be with their two children, son Brooks and daughter Dede. During those years, Denwood attended the University of Texas to complete an MBA in Commercial Real Estate and started his own company. They retired to a little ranch in the Hill Country of Texas in 2002, and then moved to Evergreen in 2016 to get away from the Texas Cedar pollen and to be near their daughter who lives in Golden. They have two grandchildren who live with their parents in La Coste, Texas.

We have a new church van!!! Bill Graf and Penn Gildersleeve delivered the check on Tuesday and drove it off the Medved lot that afternoon. We would appreciate any donations toward this worthy cause. Our goal is to fully cover the cost of the van through donations so the Trustees do not have to dip into reserves to cover the cost. If you make a donation, please put on the memo line: Church Van.
Van donations received to date are $13,052, but we have a long wait to go to meet our goal of funding the van through donations rather than reserves.
