Call for Presenters - Gathering Strength:
Framework for Recreation in Canada Forum 2018
Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA) is partnering with the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport to present Gathering Strength: Framework for Recreation in Canada Forum 2018 in Regina from May 8-10, 2018. This is a national forum focused on building relationships, continuing dialog and working in cooperation towards achieving the values, goals and priorities identified in the
Framework for Recreation in Canada: Pathways to Wellbeing.
The Program Sub-Committee for the Forum is currently accepting applications for session presenters. They are looking for thought-provoking and engaging presenters and facilitators who can share wisdom from local, provincial and national levels. Session topics and presentations are to be well aligned with the Goals and Priorities within the Framework for Recreation in Canada 2015: Pathways to Wellbeing. Applications are due end of day

Access 2017 Library Technology Conference
The Saskatchewan Library Association will host its Access 2017 Library Technology Conference in Saskatoon on September 27-29 2017. The keynote speakers will be Dr. Kimberly Christen, the Director of the Digital Technology and Culture Program and the co-Director of the Center for Digital Scholarship and Curation at Washington State University and Nora Young, author and CBC broadcaster.

The Canadian Federation of Library Associations (CFLA-FCAB) invites individual SLA members to serve on the volunteer CFLA-FCAB Indigenous Matters Committee. This is the first step forward as the CFLA implements the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Read more...

Cultural Appropriation: A Panel Discussion
SaskCulture, in partnership with the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild, the Saskatchewan Arts Board and Sâkêwêwak Artists' Collective, for an informative panel discussion on cultural appropriation featuring speakers from various artistic backgrounds like Trudy Stewart (film), Michelle LaValley (visual arts), Audrey Dreaver (heritage) and Janet Rogers (literary).
The discussion will take place on July 26, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Regina Performing Arts Centre (1077 Angus St.). The event is free and open to the public.
Saskatchewan Library Week
Grant Application Open - Deadline August 15
Need help funding your SLW Program? The Saskatchewan Library Association is offering twenty five $250 grants to member libraries to help celebrate Saskatchewan Library Week (SLW).
2017 is SLA's 75th anniversary. Our theme this year is "
Libraries Matter"" the anniversary and theme into your projects. Applications will be juried by members of the Program Committee and all decisions will be final. Applications available on the website.
Grants available for SLA members
The Saskatchewan Library Association (SLA) is pleased to offer a new $1,500 Anniversary Conference Grant.
SLA also offers Continuing Education grants to provide and support relevant educational opportunities for its members.
The deadline for applications for both grants is August 15, 2017.
Maureen Woods Education Bursary
T
he SLA is pleased to accept applications for the Maureen Woods Education Bursary. The bursary was established to promote the continued growth of professional librarianship in the province of Saskatchewan. SLA is offering a single bursary in the amount of $5,000.00. The deadline for applications is October 30, 2017.

70 New Audiobooks for YA Readers!
Looking for audiobooks for teens with print disabilities? Anyone with
a vision, mobility, or comprehension impairment can access any or all
of the 70 new titles now available for download from the National Network for Equitable Library Service
collection. All 70 titles are recorded with human voices and are in
either DAISY or MP3 format. Some are purchased, and some were produced
by NNELS.
We hope your teen readers enjoy these books!
Please
contact us if you have any questions about how to access or use
books from the NNELS collection. Anyone with a print disability is
entitled to access them, and other people (including friends, family
members, or library staff) may download books on a reader's behalf. We
acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia
