Another Successful Golf Tournament
Thank you to the Town of Rosthern for hosting the
29th Annual SUMA Golf Tournament!

It was another great golf tournament starting on Thursday, July 13 with dinner and hypnotist Corrie J. with a DJ to finish off the night. Two communities stepped up to host the 2018 and 2019 Golf Tournaments. The Town of Hudson Bay invites you to attend the tournament in 2018 and the Town of Spiritwood in 2019.

Friday morning started with breakfast, followed by 75 golfers teeing off at Valley Regional Park Golf Course. Congratulations to the winning team: Jamie Kunz, Deanna Braun, Tyrell Fraser, and Steve Brown, and the recipients of the Dennis Draper Award: James McGunigal, Donna Birkmaier, and Gary Philipchuk.

Watch our Facebook page for an album later this week to see all the action.

Funding:
Good Access is Good Business

Good Access is Good Business is an initiative of Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan which includes access to wage subsidies and funding for adaptive equipment to encourage inclusion and diversity in the workplace.

According to the Canadian Survey on Disability released by Statistics Canada, about 3.8 million working age Canadians self-identified as disabled in 2012. That's about 13.7 per cent of us -- nearly one in 10 working-age Canadians. With 70 per cent of unemployment among people with a disability in Canada, it logical and economical to draw on this untapped pool of labour.

Recognizing that people with disabilities are a source of skill and creativity will help any organization to get the advantage in a competitive market. You can get the upper hand with Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan's help: access available funding sources and information on adapting the workplace. Statistics Canada Enhancing Municipal Government Data

Statistics Canada is enhancing municipal government data through their Local Government Modernization Project. As part of this project, they are collecting quarterly financial transactions, also known as general ledger files, from municipalities to:
  • provide data users with more accurate quarterly financial statistics of municipal governments using a representative sample;
  • shorten and simplify the current local financial survey process; and
  • further develop the detail at which Statistics Canada can report municipal financial data.
Once Statistics Canada has finalized their sample, they will contact municipalities across the country. They will be looking to work together with the selected municipalities in order to collect more detailed data and provide better municipal financial statistics across all provinces.
