Hurricane Harvey - From the Texas District LCMS

We are very grateful for the concern and willingness of people from around the nation to help out the congregations of the Texas District LCMS who have been flooded and blown apart by Hurricane Harvey. Your assistance is highly valued. There are immediate needs and long-term needs:
  1. Pray. We need the fervent prayers of God's people. Pray for patience, wisdom, safety and courage. Pray that Jesus will be seen in the response of God's people.
  2. Financial resources. As assessments are being made and greatest needs are being determined, financial assistance will allow the district to resource people whose property has been damaged as well as provide supplies for future volunteers who will come to clean up or even rebuild homes, schools and churches.

In addition to on-line giving, checks may be mailed to:

Texas District Relief
c/o Mrs. Linda Hagge
7900 Highway 290 East
Austin, TX 78724

All of the funds Texas District receives from your donations will be used to assist the disaster relief efforts.

The school also welcomed Ms. Burroughs, their new Pre K 4 teacher.

Who is my "Nextdoor" neighbor?
By Tom Kuwazaki, Morning Star Lutheran Church, Lakeside CA

In Luke 10:25, a lawyer started asking Jesus questions and in Luke 10:29, to justify himself, he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Jesus then starts to share with the lawyer the Parable of the Good Samaritan. In Luke 10:36-37, Jesus shares, ""Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?" He said, "The one who showed him mercy." And Jesus said to him, "You go, and do likewise.""

If you have a mission or ministry story you'd like to share, please submit for consideration via email to Lynne Cobb at  [email protected].

The English District office will be closed on Monday, September 4, 2017 in observance of Labor Day.
Jesus said, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20

Many thanks from our family to all of you. It's only your generosity, support, and trust that allow us to continue serving in this capacity, here and throughout Asia. We take great joy in the vocations we've been given, but can only continue because you are honoring your vocations in your places. God grant us all His continued peace and strength to serve in gratitude to Him for all He has done for us in Christ.
