Cherry Students Involved in Community

Hello everyone! Summer School 2017 is finally coming to an end, but we definitely ended this session with a bang! We completed our service projects and were able to send over plenty of cat beds, handmade by our own third graders, to KC Pet Project. We would like to thank everyone for their donations and support. We also received a very special visit from Martin City Melodrama. This year our students were able to enjoy the comical performance of the "Magical Tales of Mexico!". Our second grade received a visit as well from the Kansas City Zoo, who taught our kids about cold weather animals and their habitats. And of course we made plenty of trips to the museum, nature center, and water parks. We can't wait to see you all again in the fall! Enjoy the rest of your summer break.

A bientôt !

As Summer School Draws to a Close...

It's hard to believe that six weeks have already passed us by! Summer School has been filled with excitement and learning new things. Summer offers a time of reflection, growth, and preparation for the upcoming school year. Our outstanding instructional staff has provided many educational learning experiences and activities for the children. We hope you have found the summer school experience to be meaningful and enjoyable for both you and your child. We have sincerely enjoyed working with such a great group of students and parents. Have a great 2017-2018 school year!

Please note that the construction barriers are now up. Please do not park or drop off your children near the parking lot exit. Please drop off your children on 69th street heading East.

Bon weekend!

Federal Programs FormsFRL

There are a lot of MYTHS about completing the Federal Forms and Free and Reduced Lunch forms in the enrollment packets. Like this one:

It's not important to my school.

It's VERY IMPORTANT to complete these forms because it gives the school an accurate count of families that qualify for Free and Reduced lunch benefits. Remember, the higher the number of families, the more money our school receives from public funding. This funding impacts our classrooms, teachers and everything else! Even if you think you do not qualify, please fill out the forms.

How do I do that?

You will receive an email from SchoolMint  with a link to the online forms during the first two weeks of August. If you do not receive this link, or if you cannot find it, please contact Peggy Arians (816-361-7735 or  parians@academielafayette.org) and she will get it to you. Paper forms are available too.

Anything else? YES! Every class that has 100% of their forms completed by September 30 will win an ice cream party! Yes -- do it for your kids.
