A Message from the Superintendent

Dear Lovejoy Community:

I hope with the second week of school, you are beginning to settle into a smooth routine for yourself and your children. We have our first football game on Saturday night, and we will be playing in the Tom Landry Classic at Allen Stadium vs. Argyle. I hope you will be able to come out and enjoy the first game of the season, as well as our marching band and cheerleaders. Next Monday is Labor Day, so please enjoy the long weekend with your family.

Lovejoy ISD Pre-Kindergarten
Space Available

Our district has offered a Pre-K program as a part of our employee daycare program for the past 11 years. On the suggestion of parents, we decided to expand that program and offer a tuition-based program open to our community. We currently have two Pre-K classrooms open at Puster Elementary. This program offers enhancements in music, fitness, art, library, science, technology, engineering, and math. We are enthusiastic about providing a Lovejoy education for community members looking for a rich learning experience which will provide a firm foundation for kindergarten and beyond.  This week, we received an email from a parent with a child in the program, and this is what she said:

"My daughter loves her new school and runs to get dressed every morning (used to throw a fit). Her teachers are great."

If you are interested in applying, please click here .  To schedule a tour of the Pre-Kindergarten program, please contact Stacey Dillon at 469.742.8003.

Wher e's the Bus?
Lovejoy ISD has implemented a new system for our parents to track the bus as it moves to or from school. The software system is called Safe Stop, and you must download the app in order to utilize the system. Additional information and steps to sign up may be found on the transportation web page at: Safe Stop Info.

Number of AP Scholars Continues to Rise

It is exciting to already be in the second week of the school year.  At this point, it is always heartwarming to see the various practices and traditions at each campus which ensure our students feel welcomed by teachers and administrators as they build a learning environment to foster academic success for the remaining 34 weeks of the school year. James Comer, professor of child psychology at Yale University often declares, "No significant learning can occur without a significant relationship." If you believe your child is not starting to feel connected at school, please talk to an administrator or counselor at your campus. We need your partnership to build the best school year yet for each student.

The "Lovejoy Way" includes each student feeling loved and cared for as they are supported and challenged to reach their full potential. A recent demonstration of academic success can be seen in the number of students identified as Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars by The College Board.  In order to earn the AP Scholar distinction, a student must take and pass at least three (3) AP tests while in high school. The number of AP Scholars has grown each year in Lovejoy.  This demonstrates the willingness of our students to challenge themselves by choosing to take AP courses, and then demonstrating their successful learning on the very rigorous AP test.

We hope you continue to love where you learn.  If you have feedback to help us improve, please do not hesitate to contact me on my cell at 214.385.1967.

Respectfully,
Dennis Muizers
