Welcome to the College of Business!
Whether you're on campus for the first time, or you're back for another great year, we're glad you're here. As we begin the 2017-2018 academic year, we look forward to many great events and opportunities in the College of Business. We know there's a lot going on around the CoB, and the purpose of this newsletter is to provide some important highlights to you all in one place. In this bi-weekly newsletter, you'll get some great info about programs and events from the

The CoB Academic Success Center (ASC)
The Academic Success Center (ASC) encourages student growth by providing quality advising and programming designed to empower students in making informed decisions leading to achievement of academic and professional goals.

JMU's Career and Academic Planning Office (CAP) offers opportunities to get ready for the job market. CAP provides workshops and advice on resumes, interviewing, finding internships and jobs, and more.

The Office of Experiential Learning's
mission is to complement and enhance the student learning experience at the College of Business. The office engages students in leadership and professional development programs that increase students' capability to be proficient in the workplace.
The Office of Experiential Learning collaborates with employers, alumni, and community partners locally, nationally and internationally, to help them access talented students and assist in the educational process of preparing students to become engaged and qualified business leaders.

The
Shape Your Future
Professional Development Series offered by the CoB Office of Experiential Learning will help you build key skills for success in the workplace. By participating in these workshops, you'll have some great strategies and skills to become excellent business leaders. Sessions include topics such as Case Interview Prep, Research for Interviews, Ethical Reasoning, Productivity, and more. Stay tuned for more information about topics and dates for fall!

Meet the Associate Dean of
Undergraduate Programs:
Molly Brown
As Associate Dean, Molly focuses on identifying, designing, and implementing programs that engage undergraduate business students in professional development and experiential learning activities.
Molly has a M.S. in Accounting and B.S. in Home Economics from James Madison University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant. Molly also serves as the faculty advisor for Beta Gamma Sigma, the academic honor society for business students.

Meet the Director of
Experiential Learning:
Samantha Collier
Sam opened the CoB Office of Experiential Learning in October, 2014. She spent the previous 13 years as Director of External Affairs at Rutgers School of Business-Camden. Sam's
strong programming skills and student-centric approach enables her to develop leadership and professional development programs for JMU's College of Business students.
Sam received her B.A. in Political Science from Lynchburg College and a Master's in Public Administration from Rutgers University.

Meet the Assistant Director of
Experiential Learning:
Kelly Gooch
Kelly joined the Office of Experiential Learning staff in September of 2016. She is a Double Duke, graduating in 2012 with a BA in Communication Studies and in 2014 with a MSEd.
While in her grad program, Kelly worked in the JMU Career & Academic Planning (CAP) Employer Relations & Recruiting Services office. Kelly worked in Career Planning at Christopher Newport University Center before returning to JMU to work in the College of Business. Kelly is the Member Orientation Committee Chair for the Virginia Association for Colleges and Employers (VACE).
