English Language Proficiency Assessments for CA: What you need to know
We are pleased to announce that your school may participate in the state field test of the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California, the ELPAC, which will replace the current California

English Language Development Test (CELDT). This is a great opportunity for our schools.

The purpose of the field test is to gather information about the design of the test and the performance of the test questions. This year's field test is happening in specially-selected schools across California, and some English learners and English-proficient students in our schools will participate in this field test.

The test will be administered over a period of several days from Aug. 28 through Sept. 22. Because this is a field test, neither students, parents, nor teachers will receive individual student test scores or reports.

If you wish to exempt your child(ren) from participating in this opportunity, please submit to your school principal a written request specifying your child's name, grade, and the name of the test.

Questions? Please contact FCUSD's Testing and Assessment Department at (916) 294-9000.

Spring testing scores coming: Learn how to understand reports
Folsom Cordova families of students who were in grades 3-8 or 11 last year will soon receive the individual score reports for their students under the state's new testing system.  These scores are one tool designed to help teachers better understand how our students are performing under new state standards, measure student growth, and implement effective learning strategies tailored to individual children.

Families, students, and community members may have many questions about how to read these score reports, and what the results mean.

Please visit www.fcusd.org/testing, where we have provided answers to common questions and additional resources for you to help support your child's learning.

Meal applications: Help increase funding for your school!

Folsom Cordova is asking our families to apply for free and reduced school meals - even if they're not sure they'll use it.

Why?  Because those applications could increase the amount of money your school receives to pay for resources that help students:  academic coaches, technology, musical instruments, field trips and more!

Schools receive more money and resources based on the number of families who qualify for free and reduced meals - regardless of whether they decide to use the program or not.
