IACP Submits Comments to California State Board of Pharmacy

IACP Submits Comments to the California Board of Pharmacy  for its upcoming July 25, 2017 meeting. From the letter - "Specifically, within Part 2 of Agenda Item VI, the California Board of Pharmacy, Enforcement & Compounding Committee will be providing the Board with proposed recommendations to CCR Sections 1735 - 1735.8 as a result of the Committee's June 2, 2017 and July 12, 2017 meetings. While IACP commends the Committee for collaborating with the compounding community in developing these proposed amendments, an area of major concerns that remains open is the Committee's perspective on the type of information a compounding pharmacist is permitted to use when assigning a Beyond-Use Date (BUD) to a sterile compound."

Inside Health Policy House Appropriators Send FDA Funding Bill to Floor By Voice Vote July 12, 2017 (requires subscription - article synopsis below.)

* The House Appropriations Committee advanced a fiscal 2018 FDA funding bill to the floor Wednesday (July 12) by voice vote, maintaining $2.8 billion in discretionary funding for the agency and adding $60 million to implement the 21st Century Cures Act. Debate sparked over an amendment which would have allowed office-use compounding where authorized by state law, but it was withdrawn after Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-GA) promised to work on the issue in the future with Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT).

* The committee adopted the manager's amendment by unanimous voice vote. One provision added in the manager's amendment urges FDA to issue guidance on the use of colorants in feminine hygiene cosmetic products, and issue a prompt final response to the associated citizen petition by Women's Voices for the Earth filed August 18, 2015. Another addition directs FDA to hold a public meeting on the regulation of medical gases and provide Congress a written report by Dec. 31 on planned regulatory actions.
