Special Opportunity from the ABFM -

The ABFM has just announced that it is offering the PRIME Registry FREE to the first 2,000 board-certified family physicians who sign up!

One major advantage of this offer is that you can also report for MIPS for free through PRIME-though physicians must sign up before July 31, 2017 to be ready to report for the 2017 MIPS performance period (the ABFM will continue to enroll Diplomates for free until the 2,000 slots are exhausted).

PRIME can help you use the data from your EHR to view any performance gaps, reduce reporting burden, and identify gaps in care at the individual patient level. PRIME is currently supporting hundreds of family physicians in reporting data for several federal practice transformation demonstrations including TCPI and CPC Plus, in addition to MIPS as part of the Medicare Quality Payment Program.

Help Assess Patient Engagement in
Family Medicine
The AAFP National Research Network (AAFP NRN), with funding from the Patient-Centered Research Outcomes Institute (PCORI), is evaluating patient engagement in family medicine. The AAFP NRN is seeking to learn how family physicians are reaching out to patients and caregivers.
Please complete this anonymous survey HERE to assist with this important research. The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. You may skip any question you des ire. Your answers will be pooled with others and will not be reported individually. After completing the survey, you may also choose to enter a random drawing for an iPad Pro (valued at $600).
Contact Mindy Spano, AAFP NRN Research Communications Manager, with any questions about this survey.
MAFP Delegates and President attending upcoming AAFP Congress of Delegates - Sept. 10-13
The Congress of Delegates (COD) is the American Academy of Family Physicians' (AAFP) policy-making body. Its membership consists of two delegates and two alternates from each constituent chapter and from the member constituencies including new physicians, residents, students, and other constituency groups represented at the AAFP Leadership Conference.

This year's MAFP Delegation:  Ronald Blum MD, FAAFP, Dieter Kreckel MD, FAAFP, Elisabeth Mock MD, FAAFP, & Jessica Richmond MD, FAAFP.  Also attending will be MAFP's President Patrick Connolly MD, and Executive Director Deborah Halbach.

The Congress elects new officers and three members to serve on the Board of Directors for the following 12 months. AAFP members are welcome to participate in hearings of the five reference committees: Advocacy, Education, Health of the Public and Science, Organization and Finance, and Practice Enhancement. Reference committees are committees of the COD that consider business (resolutions) items referred to them for recommendation to the COD for debate and action.

ZIKA Virus Alerts Available through Maine CDC Health Alert Network System (HAN)
Zika virus is primarily transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito (Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus). Zika virus can also be passed sexually and from a pregnant woman to her fetus. Since we are still learning about this virus and recommendations will likely continue to change, it is important that all physicians sign up for the Maine Health Alert Network (HAN) HERE to receive urgent updates regarding Zika.
(Maine Health Alert Network (HAN) is a secure web-based communication system used by the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention and its partners to exchange information with and between their respective agencies.)
