The 21st Century School Facilities Commission (aka the "Knott" Commission) resumed its work this week, with a presentation from Maryland's new School Construction lead, Bob Gorrell. Gorrell shared his general approach to school construction, reflecting on his work in New Mexico, and shared some insights on his future plans. His comments included the idea of moving to a "support with oversight model" for the school construction program, noting that the State's current model is very regulatory. Providing the tools and technical guidance to support local school boards, he said, is one improvement worth advocating for in Maryland.
