Summer School

There are some great things happening in Summer School this year. Did you know that Sun Prairie offers one of the largest and most diverse Summer School programs in the state? Educational programming is being offered to students from 4-18 years old. We have 350 staff members and approximately 3,500 students participating this summer. Here are some photos showing the great activities and learning that is happening in our schools. One student told us "I cannot wait for summer school  tomorrow!"

Meet the New Principal of Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School

We are pleased to introduce you to Reginald McGee,  the new  principal of Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School. This is Reggie's tenth year in administration including roles as a Pre-K through 8th grade principal and most recently as the Sun Prairie high school associate principal.

The first six years of Reggie's career included teaching 6th through 8th grade language arts.  He studied at a university in France, taught French and English in several high schools for many years, and took five groups of students to France and other countries.

Reggie and his wife, Barbara have two grown children. He enjoys building relationships with people of all ages, traveling, reading, writing and sports.

Reggie is looking forward to using his experiences from the high school level to help students see more clearly what lies ahead of them so that they may be successful in upper middle school and high school.  He is also looking forward to building purposeful relationships with students, staff, families and community organizations.

Reggie replaces Ryan Ruggles who left the district at the end of the school year.

Boundary Task Force  Update

With the building of two new elementary schools in progress, there has been a Boundary Task Force in place since February consisting of community members, parents and staff. This group has evaluated the elementary school boundaries first, through a series of community input sessions and meetings, and now have one proposal that will be presented to the School Board.

The Boundary Task Force is currently in the process of evaluating the middle school boundaries. There will be one more Community Input Session on Monday, July 24 from 5-6:15 pm at the District Office, 501 S. Bird Street. We encourage you to attend and review the three middle school boundary map proposals and provide feedback.

The School Board will vote on both elementary and middle school boundary proposals at the August 28th meeting.
