I am giving a half-day photography seminar this coming Saturday July 22 from 9-1pm at the Marion Center, College of Santa Fe. All proceeds will go to benefit the art installation The Fence New Mexico that will premiere that evening at The Railyard. http://fence.photoville.com/city/santa-fe/ Sponsored by the wonderful New Mexico chapter of ASMP.
If you know anyone who might be interested in the event please pass it onwards. And, for all you Santa Fe photographers who have heard me speak in the past... you can support the event by buying a ticket (even if you can't come... that would be dandy).
Photographing on the move in foreign countries requires the combination of technical expertise, culture competence, intuitive awareness, curiosity and a willingness to experiment with creative techniques", says Nevada Wier, a specialist in travel photography. She will discuss how to combine technical, practical, and creative aspects of travel photography in order to create an image that elevates itself above the usual travel clichés. The seminar will also focus on how to approach and creatively photograph people, cross-cultural considerations in foreign countries, working in difficult lighting, using natural light, fill-flash, tips on equipment, and digital concerns in the field.
The seminar is a fundraiser for
a large-scale photography exhibition reaching over 4 million visitors annually through open-air exhibitions in 7 cities across the United States: Santa Fe, Brooklyn, Boston, Atlanta, Houston, Durham, and Denver. THE FENCE, and associated regional exhibit, THE FENCE NEW MEXICO. The exhibition will be on display again this year at Santa Fe's Railyard Park, July 22, 2017 - November 4, 2017. THE FENCE is a featured project of PhotoSummer.
PhotoSummer, now in its third year, is a collaborative initiative that represents and actively promotes historical and contemporary photography in New Mexico.
