2018 Research Portfolio Ballot Ready for Voting by Membership
As the key outcome of their Spring planning meetings, the PRCI Technical Committees developed a set of detailed research projects that have since been further refined and compiled to form the 2018 PRCI Research Ballot, scheduled for release at the end of July. The Committees have worked to align this technology program with the industry's priorities and PRCI's established Research Objectives, which provide the guidance needed to focus PRCI members on a unified and collaborative research agenda with key industry drivers that will focus on technology transfer, implementation of results, and a wide application of outcomes.
New this year is the implementation of the Research Bank, which will provide members with increased flexibility to fund important research out-of-cycle as opportunities arise. Traditionally, members have been limited to voting their subscription dollars on an annual basis via the ballot, but now they will have the opportunity to "reserve" those dollars to spend at their discretion on other research priorities that arise or may not have necessarily been represented on the ballot. Marie Quintana & Mark Pelkey Receive the PRCI Distinguished Service Award
Marie Quintana, of Lincoln Electric and Mark Pelkey, formerly of National Fuel Gas Supply Corporation. each received the Distinguished Service Award for avid support and long-term efforts facilitating PRCI research.

PRCI President Cliff Johnson Presents the PRCI Distiguished Service Award to Marie Quintana (May 16, 2017)
Marie has been a long time member and supporter of PRCI and actively involved in many aspects in the organization including as Welding Focus Area Lead for the PRCI Design, Materials & Construction Technical Committee, Advisor to the Research Steering Committee, & Member of the Board of Directors. Always eager to get involved and share her expertise, Marie has been an instrumental part of PRCI's research programs and on the front lines of instilling a rigorous, quality-based approach to welding science and practice into the younger workforce.

Mark Pelkey Receives the PRCI Distinguished Service Award from PRCI's Vice President of Research Operations, Mike Whelan (June 14, 2017)
Mark has also been involved for many years in PRCI as a member of the Measurement Technical Committee, the Audit & Finance Committee, the Research Steering Committee, and the Executive Assembly & Executive Board. Mark has been engaged across the entire spectrum of PRCI member roles simultaneously - even as an Executive Board member he still served as a project team lead, a Committee rep and provided support to the RSC. His practical, perspectives on operator needs and realistic research goals shaped numerous projects over the years.. PRCI and its members has certainly benefitted from his experience in the industry and the wisdom that he regularly shared over the years. We wish Mark all the best in his retirement as he ponders the difference in HDD's between the Buffalo area and the Carolinas while restoring vintage cars

Please join us in thanking Marie and Mark for their efforts and service to PRCI.
TDC Sees Record Participation & Activity Since Opening
NDE Tools Demonstration at the TDC Warehouse Facility
The second quarter of 2017 was an outstanding quarter for the Technology Development Center (TDC) in Houston, TX. The achieved level of activities at the TDC was the highest since the Grand Opening event two years ago, with a record breaking 231 visitors representing 44 companies in the month of June.

Since the start of 2017, PRCI member companies have increasingly employed the TDC to execute research projects and conduct meetings. Member funded research at the TDC allows for a quick response to industry challenges or operational conditions that are unique to a given operator. In the area of ILI tools assessment and verification, the pull test facility was used to assess the performance and accuracy of ILI tools for metal loss, stress corrosion cracking and localized damage features. The 6-inch liquid loop was also utilized to confirm the capability of certain ILI and cleaning tools to navigate through challenging piping configurations for offshore pigging applications. With regards to NDE testing, the pipe samples at the TDC were an integral part of NDE tools performance evaluation and demonstration. In addition, members have utilized the warehouse space at the TDC to qualify NDE technicians for field work.
Finally, the conference rooms were used for general meetings and training. With the combination of meeting space and quick access to pipe samples, members have a unique opportunity to provide hands-on training for the next generation of pipeline engineers and field technicians.

Ongoing research at the TDC consists of both PRCI funded R&D projects and member funded work through joint industry initiatives or independent work. Ongoing PRCI funded research include the following projects: ( read full story)
Save the Date for the 2018 Research Exchange Meeting!
We are pleased to announce that PRCI will be hosting its annual Research Exchange Meeting on March 6-7, 2018 in Miami, Florida. The Research Exchange Meeting is scheduled each year to provide PRCI member companies, our key research partners, and external stakeholders with a report on the important research results and outcomes for completed research projects and programs. The Research Exchange Meeting will be followed by the Winter 2018 Meeting of the PRCI Pipeline Technical Committees on March 8-9, 2018.  Additional details will follow in the coming months.
Welcoming New Members to PRCI!
PRCI is pleased to welcome the American Petroleum Institute and ArcelorMittal who have joined PRCI in 2017.

The American Petroleum Institute (API) joined PRCI as a Pipeline Industry Organization Member. API represents over 625 oil and natural gas companies, leaders of a technology-driven industry that supplies most of America's energy, supports more than 9.8 million jobs and 8 percent of the U.S. economy, and, since 2000, has invested nearly $2 trillion in U.S. capital projects to advance all forms of energy, including alternatives. We would like to welcome David Murk, Pipeline Manager, who is representing API on the Executive Assembly.

ArcelorMittal joined PRCI as a Technical Program Associate Member of the Design, Materials & Construction Technical Committee. ArcelorMittal is a steel and mining company, a supplier of steel products in all major markets including automotive, construction, household appliances and packaging. ArcelorMittal is present in 60 countries and has an industrial footprint in 19 countries. We would like to welcome Dr. Sree Harsha Lalam, Technology Coordinator - Energy, who is representing ArcelorMittal on the committee.
