Vacation Bible School Update
|
Our Maker Fun Factory VBS is just around the corner, from July 24-28th. To get ready, we will have two volunteer decorating days, and we needs lots of extra hands! On Sunday, July 16th, we’ll begin decorating the Narthex after the 10 am mass. We will also begin distributing CD’s for registered families after the July 16th mass.
Sunday, July 23rd is our big decorating day, where we really transform the Nave, Narthex, and trailers. We appreciate anyone who can stay after mass to help, and we will gladly bribe you with pizza at noon. In addition, any older youth or adults that are volunteering for crew during the week should plan to stay after mass on July 23rd for a brief volunteer training session.
If you have signed up to donate supplies for VBS, please bring those in. Thank you to everyone’s wonderful generosity in supporting this great ministry!
If you would like to register to participate as a camper or as crew, please click the link below. Note: there is limited availability for t-shirts and they are not guaranteed for new registrations from this point forward. For more info, contact Monica Smith or call Father Tripp (770-888-4464x8001)

We have an opening in the nursery on Sunday mornings (8:30-12:15 am). This is a paid position ($40/Sunday) and assists Allison Levin, our nursery coordinator, in providing child care during Mass.
If you are interested, please contact Durham Harris. Applicants need to be at least 17 years old. Please pass this notice along to anyone you know who may be interested in applying.
We want to take this opportunity to thank Sophie Shipley who has staffed our nursery for the last two years and who also helped coordinate the renovation project in the nursery. Sophie has gown up at St. Columba's and was a great presence in our nursery every week and will certainly be missed. Please join in thanking Sophie for her outstanding service.

Sunday School Teachers Needed
|
|
Sunday school resumes after Labor Day (September 10), and we are very excited about plans for this coming year!
Thanks to the wonderful dedication of Kristin Weems, our elementary program continues to thrive! Using a Montessori approach, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd incorporates our sacramental and liturgical tradition with the Biblical story. The results are phenomenal and children thoroughly enjoy it.
Durham Harris, coordinator of youth and family ministries, Sunday for middle and high school youth has take a huge leap forward. Plans for this coming year are very exciting, to be sure! The program deepens the roots of our teenagers faith, and connects faith with service in ways that make our parish mission statement come alive, "... setting hearts free to change the world."
But we need your help to continue having such a strong program in the parish. Please consider teaching this coming year in either the elementary or high school program. We have two orientation meetings planned and we ask continuing and those interested in learning more about teaching to attend one.
- Sunday, August 6, from 11:00-11:55 am (in the Library - Cottage #102)
- Sunday, August 20, from 11:00-11:55 am (in the Library - Cottage #102)
For more details or if you have any questions, please contact Durham Harris, Kristen Weems, or Father Tripp.
