Charlie Nader came to the Pets In Need veterinary clinic three years ago, when his Newfoundland mix, Shadow, was ill.
The Lockland man knew his pet was suffering, and money was tight. A friend told him about the nearby clinic, where care is provided for little or no cost to those who meet income criteria. So Nader, who was experiencing tough times, came to Pets In Need.

Thinking about struggling families or people in need, many of us have a preconceived idea of who those people are. For some, it's easier to assume those in need are separate from their communities and quite different from their own families.
However, after spending more than 35 years as a veterinarian and two years on the Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati board of directors, I've learned those assumptions are often incorrect

Volunteer Spotlight:
Emma Dasenbrock
At Pets In Need, we love our volunteers! We rely on their time and talents to carry out our mission of helping pets.
Emma has been a faithful volunteer at the Sunday Pets In Need clinics since September 2015 and often spends her time off from school volunteering too. Emma first heard about Pets In Need from her mother, Teresa Dasenbrock, who was the former Pets In Need Clinic Manager. As a clinic volunteer, Emma greets clients, checks in patients, cleans exam rooms, and helps with whatever is needed. Emma says her favorite part about volunteering at Pets In Need is getting to pet and play with all of the dogs and cats!
When Emma isn't volunteering with Pets In Need she enjoys hanging out with friends and playing with her own pets - two dogs named Pippin and Brady and two cats named Sweetie and Dixie. This fall Emma is heading to Northern Kentucky University to study Biology in the Pre-Med program (
Congratulations, Emma!).
