Where did the summer go?
Wow, here we are at the end of August already. It is time to start thinking about fall. We still have a few weeks before we change our worship times and start Sunday school (Sept 17), but many of the other ministries will be starting right away in September (like quilting and music groups and Wednesday night suppers...check the details below). If you haven't registered for Sunday School or Shift 67 or confirmation yet there are also links for you to do that.
We have two more weeks on our preaching series from the book of Revelation ...then we will begin our journey through the Bible starting in Genesis on Sept 10.

Looking for a few good people
with "Joy" in their hearts
who don't mind getting their hands wet
Our
Wednesday Night Supper is one of our ministries that is at the core of what we are about. We are blessed to have a great cook to prepare the food (thank you Kelly) but preparing the food is only part of providing a meal.
We also need people willing to help with the set up and clean up.
This is where we need your help. Many hands make light work. If we can get 8 dish team organized, then no one would need to work more than once a month for 1 1/2 hour. We are looking to have 2 shifts (early 4:30-6:00 and late 6:00-7:30). Teams would be 3-4 people and could be families or any kind of group. You can form your own team, or indicate your willing to help and we will form the teams. Thank you for your support of this important ministry.

Marv and Marcia Lindseth stopped by to visit Zion Lutheran Church in Kulm, ND last Sunday. Chimizie Ukaonu is the Pastor at Zion. Many of you will remember, he was an intern at Joy Lutheran in 2010, working with Pastor Belland! Of course, Flat Luther was along for the ride and enjoyed his visit.

How are we doing financially?
We have had a very generous response to our capital appeal which exceeded our goal of $30,000 in just a few weeks. Thank you. Thank you. Unfortunately our giving for our general, day to day operating of our ministry has not been able to keep up with the challenging budget we set for ourselves. Since the beginning of the year we have had about $1000 more expense than income each month, which is starting to add up. If each of us do a little we can meet the need. If you are on the go this summer and not able to be with us, remember we still need your support. Thank you.
