Why we live where we live....

The South Cariboo is a very special place. Why is that? Is it the beautiful landscape, the lifestyle, the people?

During the fires over the summer, everyone has witness amazing kindness, giving and sharing, people volunteering until they are exhausted, our local people working the front lines risking their lives to save our homes.

But it isn't just our homes, it's looking out our windows to our majestic environment. The devastation to our forests, meadows, fields... this part of our lives is why we live here. Looking out our window seeing a moose, bear or deer quietly eating in the fog of the morning and hearing the owls calling at night, being woken up by the call of the sand-hill cranes.

It's the rancher walking the fields in the early morning checking the herds or children getting up early to feed their chickens after running through the yard with their dogs. It's passing the loggers late in the evening with their loaded logging trucks knowing their day started before the sun was up and it's the parents sharing  coffee and conversation at early morning practices and cheering on the home team as a whole. From our crystal clear lakes to our mountains... it is home.

So it IS the people that make the South Cariboo a special place, with all our pocket communities being a part of the bigger picture.

It is us, the people that appreciate where we live and understand the beauty in it all. Even though though we have scars in our landscape, sadness with the loss of homes, wildlife, and resources ...the South Cariboo will renew and be more beautiful than ever.

Support your community ... be local.

Thank you to all that have contributed to this amazing event:
