Magazine Drive
Save Our Subscriptions!  Our Annual Magazine Drive will be October 10-20. This is an important program for our school where we raise much needed funds and promote activities for our students throughout the entire year.  Please "Save your Subscriptions" to renew and order through our school. Do not renew your magazines through the publishers!  We only earn funds on purchases made directly through our school in October and through our online store at GaFundraising.com

How Can You Help Us Now?
Visit www.gafundraising.com. The Online Tools make it easy to send emails to friends and family so they can help too. Be sure to include a YC student's name so they earn credit for prizes.

In addition to magazines and gift items found online, we will also be selling perishable items including Southern Living cookie doughs, Cinnabon products, pizzas, and holiday desserts. Most food items cannot be ordered online, they must be processed by a student or through school.

Manufacturing Days
The York County Economic Alliance is partnering with the Hanover Chamber of Commerce, MANTEC, and the Manufacturers' Association to hold the Third Annual Manufacturing Days Event.  York Catholic's Guidance Department is gauging the interest of junior and senior students in attending in October.

The purpose of Manufacturing Days is to celebrate modern manufacturing for the purpose of inspiring the next generation of manufacturers.  Students will tour a local manufacturing firm that showcases production and employees through speakers and demonstrations.  The visit will also emphasize the need for science, technology, engineering, and math skills in today's workplace, while promoting rewarding careers in manufacturing.

Juniors and seniors interested in attending should email Ms. Hess at [email protected] by August 20.  If there is enough interest, a date will be scheduled and additional information distributed.
Anything Look Familiar?
We have gathered quite a collection of items left behind at the close of the school year. If you are missing shoes, sweatshirts, uniforms, lunch bags, gym bags, coats, hats, umbrellas, etc., please visit YC by July 27 at 3 PM to claim your items.  The school is open Monday through Thursday from 8 AM -3 PM.  Items unclaimed after July 27 will be donated.
Changes to PA Immunization Law for All Students
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is changing school immunization regulations beginning in August 2017.  The regulations are intended to ensure that children attending school in PA are adequately protected against potential outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases.  A child must have the required medically-appropriate vaccines or a plan to complete those vaccines or risk exclusion from school.

Children in grades 7-12 need the following immunizations for attendance:
  • 4 doses of tetanus * (1 dose on or after 4th birthday)
  • 4 doses of diphtheria* (1 dose on or after 4th birthday)
  • 4 doses of acellular pertussis* (1 dose on or after 4th birthday)
  • 4 doses of polio (4th dose on or after 4th birthday and at least 6 months after previous dose given)
  • 2 doses of measles, mumps, and rubella (usually given as MMR)
  • 3 doses of hepatitis B
  • 2 doses of varicella (chickenpox) or evidence of immunity
  • 2 doses meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV)
    • 1st dose is given 11-15 years of age; a 2nd dose is required at age 16 or entry into 12th grade.
    • If the dose was given at 16 years of age or older, only one dose is required.
  • 1 dose of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap)
*   Usually given as DTaP or DTP or DT or Td

All students must submit a Certificate of Immunization form by August 25.
Click here for the required Certificate of Immunization form (green and white) to complete and submit to the York Catholic nurse detailing the dates your child's immunizations were administered.  If the form is incomplete based on the state requirements above, a 2nd form (PLAN - red and white) must be completed detailing the dates the immunizations are scheduled to be given.  Click here for the PLAN form.  The completed Certificate of Immunization (and the PLAN card, if applicable) must be returned to the school nurse by
August 25, 2017 .

Under Pennsylvania state law, students without the Certificate of Immunization form or the PLAN form on file, cannot be admitted school.

If you have any questions, please contact Diane Lupinetti, York Catholic nurse, at 717-846-8871 x221 or [email protected] or consult the PA Department of Health website at www.dontwaitvaccinate.pa.gov.
