Chamber Notebook:
Cousins Subs

Manitowoc Cousins Subs built on franchisee's nostalgia

New franchisees Mike and Molly Smith joined the Manitowoc business community in January 2016 as owners of the newly constructed Cousins Subs at 4530 Calumet Ave. The local sub shop is the only Manitowoc-area location in the 45-year-old brand's 100-restaurant footprint, which spans Wisconsin and soon to be the greater Chicagoland area.

While these new owners have expansion plans of their own, seeking to one day own multiple Cousins Subs, the journey to opening the only Cousins in the area started long ago. It began when Mike was 8 years old and moved to Milwaukee from South Philadelphia. His family often indulged in all that the Midwest sub shop had to offer as it was a familiar taste to the Philly subs they grew up loving back home.
"My inspiration to open a Cousins stems from my nostalgic connection to the brand from early on," said Mike Smith.

Every Sunday in the Herald Times Reporter, The Chamber of Manitowoc County features members in "The Chamber Notebook" located on the front page of the Business section. This exposure is just another value-added opportunity with your Chamber membership.
