Learn a new skill, and have fun while doing it! We're celebrating fall by making an iconic pioneer toy: the corn husk doll! Pioneer children didn't have access to many regular toys, so they had to be creative when it came to playtime! One of the lasting favorites was made with corn husks, which were around farms in large quantities. Participants will receive all of the supplies and instruction they need to make and dress their own pioneer corn husk doll! This is an open-house workshop: the craft will not take the whole 3 hours, and participants are welcome to come any time within the 3-hour window.

"Drums on the Conococheague: Then and Now," is a professional Native American powwow. This is the first time the Conococheague Settlement is having a powwow on its beautiful campus. The event will feature drummers, dancers and singers, re-enactments by living historians, and a variety of demonstrations of Native life ways. The Conococheague Settlement is located in Mercersburg, PA, not far from the Maryland line. Our 30-acre rural site is beautiful and looks much like it did in the 18h and 19th centuries, complete with historic buildings, gardens, a research library and pioneer cemetery.
