Letter from the President

Happy New Year!
As the 2016 board chair, my goal is to help make AFP indispensable to you. The board is so excited to provide programs and services here locally, and through AFP International, that help you grow personally and professionally.
We are especially fortunate this year to have the International Conference in San Francisco April 30-May 2. I encourage you to attend and if possible volunteer. It is a great way to connect with colleagues from around the world and stay abreast of best practices and trends.
If you would like to get involved a little closer to home, please do not hesitate to contact me or any members of the board.
Warm regards,
Michele Melicia Young, CFRE
President, AFP Monterey Bay

Long-time AFP Board Member, Suzanne Dewar, or fondly known as Sue, passed away peacefully January 7 after a progressive illness. Her husband, Roderick, asked the AFP membership to remember Sue for her joy for life and her witty intelligence, She was a passionate philanthropist and fearless fundraiser.
Roderick also wrote,
"[Sue] admired the mission of AFP and particularly the membership, which she deemed first class. Sue was so proud to be a part of the organization." Thank you Sue; you will be missed.
C
ontributions in Sue's memory may be made to the Foundation of CSUMB; or to any favorite charity.

The conference, which will be held at Moscone Convention Center in downtown San Francisco, will attract 4000+ fundraisers from around the world. The host committee is responsible for recruiting volunteers to introduce speakers, facilitate the dine-around dinners, and assist at the Opening Night Reception.
If you are interested in volunteering, send a reply to ICONvolunteer2017@gmail.com with your contact information. A committee member will confirm your interest with a return email or call.
We need many volunteers! We hope you will join us!
