Dear Community,

First and foremost, I'd like to welcome our students, staff and families to the 2017-2018 school year at the North Penn School District (NPSD). From the expansion of our Digital Age Teaching and Learning one-to-one initiative, bringing Chromebooks to students in grades 10 through 12, to the completion of the renovations at Montgomery Elementary School, we are off to an excellent start to the new school year.

I am extremely pleased to announce that the school board and both the North Penn Education Association (NPEA) and North Penn Educational Support Professional Association (NPESPA) have agreed to new contracts. The NPSD Board of School Directors approved both contracts at an action meeting Thursday, September 14. The previous contracts expired June 30, 2017.

I am happy to report that both contracts are multi-year, which means we can get down to the business of educating our students without worrying that another contract is about to expire. The negotiations process is important, and consequently it can be lengthy and  and time consuming. I want to thank all of those who were involved and who worked hard for nearly a year to develop contracts that are fair to our employees and, just as important, fair to our students, families and taxpayers.

I also want to thank the members of NPEA and NPESPA for their patience as they all worked without a contract since July 1 and, as always, put our student needs first. To read more about the contracts click here

Sincerely,

Curtis R. Dietrich, Ed.D.
Superintendent, NPSD
