Coventry Suppers - Time to Sign up!
Coventry Suppers are a fun and meaningful tradition at St. Andrew's, providing an opportunity for members of the congregation to gather in small groups for simple meals at each other's homes. These are casual evenings, with all members of the group contributing dishes and creating a lovely form of fellowship.  Sign up to participate --  no later than Sunday, October 1 -- on the sheets in the narthex, or on the website . The fellowship and membership vestrypersons will form small groups of 8-10 adults and distribute a list of groups in early October.
A Note from the Treasurer's Office
As you return to your normal routine, please make an effort to catch up on any pledge payments missed over the summer months. Our cash flow always drops during the summer, and we would like to get back on track. Thank you for your help.

This is the first of five classes offered this year. In our Faith & Practice Series, we gather after church for 45 minutes to engage each other in conversation, reflection, and short spiritual exercises around topics that help us live out our faith daily.
common cathedral
Our church will be worshipping with common cathedral on Sunday, October 1. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our Episcopal Eucharist with a diverse congregation, mostly made up of people with housing challenges. We make sandwiches at St. Andrew's from 8:30 to 9:30am, worship here at 10am then depart for Boston around 11:15am. We serve lunch, share in worship and usually return to Wellesley by 3pm. Past participants have found this to be a humbling, yet uplifting, experience.
Blessing of the Animals
Join us on Sunday, October 1 at 5pm for the annual blessing of the animals, in honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Creatures of every species are welcome to come for a blessing!
Confirmation Service at St. Andrew's
All are invited to the 2017 deanery (regional) confirmation on Saturday, October 7 at 10:30am at St. Andrew's. Twenty-one youth and five adults from St. Andrew's, as well as others from parishes around the diocese, will be confirmed in the Episcopal Church. Please pray for those preparing for confirmation.
Bible Circles
Our Bible Circles will resume on the morning of Tuesday, October 10, at 10:30am and the evening of Wednesday, October 11, at 7pm. Each class lasts for an hour. This year, we will read and discuss the Gospel according to John. More information will be in future Sunday leaflets and on the bulletin board outside of Margaret's office.
Coffee Hour Hosts
Please sign up to host coffee hour. Coffee hour is a great opportunity for parishioners to better get to know one another better, build a network, and strengthen the St. Andrew's sense of community. The community will appreciate your efforts.  Please notify  Hillary Madge.
Swellesley Report Publisher to Speak at October Luncheon
Deborah Brown will speak at the annual October St. Andrew's/Village Church Luncheon on Tuesday, October 10 hosted this year by Village Church. Deborah and her husband, Dan, publish the "Swellesley Report," a popular website providing an abundance of information about our town. Come meet Deborah and learn how she discovers "More than you ever wanted to know about Wellesley!"  This annual luncheon, alternately hosted by St. Andrew's, will run from noon to 2pm in the Common at the Village Church. Please RSVP by Thursday, October 5 to Pat MacKinnon or Dot Reed .
Join the Altar Guild
We happily welcome any member of the church who would be interested in joining us "doing God's dishes" or "setting the props for the show." The time commitment is low (generally one service a month), but the rewards (and fellowship) are great. New members work alongside experienced members as they train, and there is much flexibility to work around your schedule. For more information, please contact Cynthia Scott or Laura Brown MacKinnon
Send Us Your Summer Photos!
We know that many of you attend other churches during the summer, and we would love to add photographs of those churches to the our summer bulletin board: maybe even a "selfie" in front of it! Even if it's a church you did not attend but find interesting, a photograph (including name and location) would be great!  Submissions can be sent via email or you can bring them in on Sunday Thank you in advance!
Luau at St. Andrew's
Looking to extend the feeling of summer? Then please save the date for our annual fall fellowship event, and plan to join us on Saturday, October 21 at 6:30pm. This year's theme is a Luau, complete with Hawaiian treats, cocktails, music, and fun---grass skirts optional! Invitations to follow via email.

Italian Pilgrimage
A subcommittee of our adult formation and learning committee continues to meet as we plan our Italian pilgrimage. We will be traveling to Italy on Monday, May 14 and returning Friday, May 25, 2018. Please email me if you are considering joining the pilgrimage and haven't contacted me yet. - Rev. Margaret Schwarzer

The book for November 13 will be A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles.
Episcopal Relief and Development: Hurricane Relief
I'm sure many of us are keeping the people in Texas affected by the hurricane in our prayers. If you want to send money to support the relief effort in Texas this week, we encourage you to use Episcopal Relief and Development, an excellent and effective charity which is part of our National Episcopal Church system.
Parish Directory
The directories are available for pick--up-one per family--anytime. They are in the narthex and the administrative hallway. Remember that the directory is also available on our website: look for "Directory" on the top right of the site and follow the instructions to sign-in.
Nametags
Nametags are a great way to get to know folks and help everyone feel welcome. St. Andrew's membership committee offers lovely reusable magnetic nametags for all members. If you would like a new or replacement name tag, please contact Becky Hamlin.
Illness and Off-Hour Emergencies
The clergy are always available to assist you. Please email Adrian or call him at 603-831-4938 if you or a member of your family expects to be in the hospital and wishes to be visited. Also, please let us know of names that should be added to our prayer list. Our prayers are with all those in need.
