Hurricane Harvey contributions

Thank you to all students, faculty and staff who made a donation to help support efforts for Hurricane Harvey relief in Texas. SBA raised $500.00, which will go directly to the local Catholic schools in helping them to get their school year started.
SCHOOL VISITS
SBA extends a Back to School welcome

SBA extended a warm Back to School welcome to our neighboring elementary schools these last two weeks.   Mrs. Connie D'Angelo, Principal and Mrs. Kimberely Clearkin, Admissions Director, delivered postcards with our Admissions information to prospective students, as well as SBA cookies decorated with our logo.

Biology students were exploring the new SBA Meadow as they learned how to "think like a Scientist".    

AP TESTS
Payments due by October 31st

The Collegeboard has announced the cost of the 2018 AP tests at $94 per test. Every student that has elected to take an AP class is required to take the AP exam in May of 2018, as outlined in the Program of Study.
When making a payment please make all checks payable to Saint Basil Academy. If you wish to pay by credit card, please pay on the SBA website. SBA will charge $94 per exam. We ask that all payments be made by  October 31, 2017.

ADVISORY CLASS
Seniors

We are implementing an Advisory class for all students. All students must report to Advisory class during the first 30 minutes of the lunch period.   Seniors will meet for three weeks of Advisory during the month of September.  Beginning in October, they will meet once a week.  Here is the break down for Seniors for the week of 9/18.

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Questbridge

Questbridge is an organization that will sponsor four years of a student's  college tuition.  This program matches students with highly selective colleges.  The applicant's family income must be lower that $65,000 with little to no assets.  Applicants must be in the top 5 to 10% of your class. If you are interested, please see your counselor.

GEAR Day

GEAR Day is a day-long camp on Penn's campus intended to educate high school girls about the engineering profession and inspire interest in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields. You will participate in hands-on workshops and interact with engineering college students, professors, and professionals,

It's never too early to start planning for a college education for our children.  Please join us on Wednesday, November 15th, at 7 pm in our Auditorium at Saint Basil Academy for the following presentation:

PRE-ADMINISTRATIVE TESTING
Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors

Pre-Administrative testing for the PSAT 8/9, PreACT and the PSAT will be completed during the 9/21 FLEX period for all Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors.  Please bring #2 pencils. 

DRAMA CLUB
Auditions & NYC trip

Auditions for the fall show will take place on Wednesday, September 20th and Thursday, September 21st in the auditorium.  Please sign up on the Drama Board for both Drama Club and the date you wish to audition.  Fall sport participants are welcome to join and we will work around your schedules.  Please pick up Drama club information from the board. Please contact Mrs Dillinger with any questions.

Information will be available on audition dates for any Drama Club member interested in attending our annual trip to NYC.  This year our show is Dear Evan Hansen and the cost per student is $120, which includes bus and ticket. The Broadway Classroom before the show will be provided and paid for by Drama Club.

PARENTS' CLUB
Updates

Please remember to send in your 10 Week Club Tickets that were mailed over the summer. Tickets are $20 each and are good for all 10 weeks.  The first drawing  
is Monday, October 2nd.  If you sell five tickets, you get one FREE!.
Additional tickets are available in the school office.

Parents' Club Welcome Packets and Dates to Remember Magnets were handed out at Back to School Night.  If you did not attend, they are available in the office or on the Parents' Club webpage.

Volunteer forms can be returned to school anytime, or you can bring them to the first Parents' Club General Meeting on Thursday, October 5th.  The volunteer form is also available on the SBA website.

On Friday we had our First Welcome Back to School BBQ.  T he Parents' Club cooked lunch for  faculty, staff and students.   A good time was had by ALL.   We would like to thank our volunteers (pictured below) that came out to help.  A special thank you to Mr.Glen Angus.

PAWPRINTS
School store updates

Grey ¼ Zip Sweatshirts
Our grey ¼ zip sweatshirts may be worn with the winter uniform in place of the navy cardigan. The sweatshirt can be purchased in our school store and online and picked up at our store. Sizes small through x -large are $35, and size 2x is $37.

Senior Navy Polo Shirts
Senior have the option of purchasing long sleeve navy polo shirts as part of their uniform. We are now taking online orders for them. Please place your online order by Wednesday, September 27th. Orders take approximately two weeks to arrive. Sizes small through x-large are $21 and size 2x is $23.
