Message from the PTO President
Dear VFES Families:

Watching your children grow into confident and caring human beings is a proud moment for any parent. I had the privilege to witness it with my daughter, Aarushi, who is in 4th grade. She wants to work on having an amazing end of the year party for her entire grade and is very excited to move up to middle school. She tabled the bake sale at pizza bingo a couple of weeks ago and came up with an idea to hold an after school cooking club to raise funds for her end of the year party. I say this not only as a very proud parent, but also to reiterate how important volunteering is for our children as well. It teaches them leadership skills, analytical thinking and creativity.

Our cultural arts committee has worked very hard to bring in "Step Afrika!" a dance group to our school. You and your family can see it at Radnor Middle on Friday, March 4th. More information is available at
www.vfespto.org

I hope you could make it to the Bowling party last night. It is always a fun filled event!

Our fourth grade teachers requested for 4 additional robots to help 4th graders hone in on their programming skills. I am very happy to report that with your support the PTO was able to fulfill their request.

We are looking for some Spring Fair committee chairs. If you would like to help out, please let me know. Spring Fair is one of our largest fundraisers for the school and the most anticipated event of the year for our children. Please help us in making it successful!

I want to thank you for taking the time to volunteer at many events at the school!

I look forward to meeting you at some of the events soon. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, feel free to email me at ptopres@vfespto.org.

Much love,

Rujuta Mandelia

Publishing Center Volunteers Needed

VFES offers its 1st through 4th graders a unique opportunity
to become published authors!  Students write and illustrate original stories, and parent volunteers type, proof, and assemble their creations.  Our busy season is upon us, and we are in need of additional volunte ers to help staff the Publishing Center.  There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available and many can be done at home.  In addition, all volunteers can work around their own schedules and do not have to commit to a set day/time or number of h ours.

Contact Tarin Cataldo at  vfepubcntr@tesd.net  for additional information.  Please consider being a part of this wonderful program!

Teacher Spotlight

This teacher is a ray of sunshine when you see her in the hallways! Always a big smile on her face, a friendly "Hello" and decked out in her signature pink from pale to fuchsia, florals and plaids. Mrs. Lesley Kennedy is the Grade Coordinator for 3rd grade at VFES. Her smile is infectious and you can see the joy on the faces of her students. Let's find out more...

Items can be dropped off anytime between March 31-April
8 at any of the local TESD schools (including ours), the Tredyffrin Library (Wayne) or the Easttown Library (Berwyn).   Please only drop items off when the schools/libraries are open. Clothing for all seasons, plus good quality shoes, boots, coats, belts or other accessories will be accepted.  Again this year is a teen girls Pop-up Shop - so we'll need lots of teen girls clothes to help make this special!

For a list of items not accepted, and for other information, please go to www.tecare.org. Be sure to also mark your calendars for the Grab Bag itself, April 15 (2-6) or April 16 (9-noon) at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church on Walker Rd.  This fundraiser for T&E Care is a great chance for everyone to restock your kids' closets with great quality clothes.  A suggested donation of $10/bag is appreciated.

Questions, please contact T&E Care atclothes@tecare.org .
