Join Kristin Walsh, Manager of Parks, Recreation and Culture for the Town of Devon, for her session entitled "Citizens Engaging Citizens: the story of Devon's Voyageur Park."  This session will focus on the community development approach used, key lessons learned, community and professional perspectives and the take-away lessons of the community building approach to improving Devon's Voyageur Park.

Policy Brief: The Youth Portal In April of 2017, the Beaver County Youth Engagement Project concluded. A key deliverable of the project was the Youth Portal. The portal is best construed as a centralized tool which may be used by public administrators, relevant stakeholders, and interested members of the public. Human Rights Education and Multiculturalism Fund The Human Rights Education and Multiculturalism Fund provides grants that support community projects that foster equality and reduce discrimination. The Alberta Human Rights Commission is accepting Expressions of Interest for the Human Rights Project grants non-profit organizations and public institutions (deadline October 2, 2017).  Details below.

April Heinrich and Madison Pearson are working on a rural broadband project funded through a Knowledge Synthesis grant from the  Social Science and Humanities Research Council.  The project a ims to address the lack of comprehensive reviews of rural broadband adoption strategies by conducting a knowledge synthesis of the existing literature using a scoping review method.  The end goal is to produce an investment guidebook for rural community decision makers.  

The two research assistants are involved in literature review, coding, assisting with workshops and are preparing the final deliverables.  Excitingly, Madison will be presenting their findings at the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation conference "Different by Design" held in Nelson BC this September.  Her presentation is entitled "Global Perspectives on Programmatic Solutions to Bridging the Digital Divide".
