Upcoming Cultural Arts Programs

The PTO Cultural Arts committee is sponsoring two very special events later in January.

On  January 27th  the entire second grade will spend the morning experiencing Chinese Culture during the 2nd grade Chinese Round Robin.  We will have lessons with a karate instructor, paper cutter,                     puppeteer and calligrapher and the children will learn about
the cultural significance of rice and Chinese New Year!

Author and Illustrator Brian Pinkney is visiting VFES on Wednesday, January 20th!  He will spend the whole day at school, presenting assemblies on his inspiration and process for creating books.  All of the students at VFES will have the opportunity to learn from Brian during a dynamic storytelling assembly!

Thank you to the PTO:

The PTO has purchased Dash and Dot robots for each team in Kindergarten and Grades 1 through 4. These robots will be used to expand the coding concepts students explored during the Hour of Code experience in December.

To learn about what they can do, take a look at the website  https://www.makewonder.com  or visit the WonderWorkshop you tube site to discover the many uses of these wonderful devices.

Thank you to the PTO and VFES families for your contributions to the Gifts to School program. Your support increases our investments in technology.
