Ogden Wins Section Championship

John Ogden, PGA Head Professional at Cherry Hills Country Club, reigned victorious at the 2017 Colorado PGA Professional Championship on Wednesday. He defeated Rick Cole, PGA Head Professional at Eaton Country Club, in a sudden-death playoff to claim the Ralph "Rip" Arnold Memorial Trophy!

Ogden, upon receiving the trophy, announced that he would donate half of his winnings to Colorado PGA REACH, the charitable arm of the Colorado PGA.

Celebrate the Colorado Award Winners on Oct. 27

The 2017 Colorado Section Award Winners represent an exceptional group of PGA Professionals. You are invited to attend the Awards Gala to honor these recipients. 

The Gala is being held on Friday, October 27, at the Colorado Golf Club in Aurora. Cocktails begin at 5:30 followed by dinner. The program will start at 7:30 p.m.

Junior Golf News
JGAC to host Inaugural Parent Child Tournament

The Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado (JGAC) has announced the creation of brand new Parent-Child tournaments. The two events, one for 13 & under juniors and one for 14-18 year-old juniors, will take place October 28, 2017, and October 29, 2017, at Indian Tree Golf Club. Each division will compete on one day of the event.

Colorado Team Falls Short in PGA Junior League Finals

Mt. Elbert, the PGA Junior League team representing the Colorado PGA, fell short during the regional championship held last week. The team, captained by Rick Timm, posted an 0-3 finish in the round-robin event. The Axis All-Stars, based out of Houston, TX, won the event and will advance to the PGA Junior League national championship, set for Nov. 16-19 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale.
JGAC Fall Event In Estes Park - Final Results

Medalists were named at the JGAC Fall Series in Estes Park last weekend. Estes Park Golf Course hosted the 11-18 year old divisions and Lake Estes Golf Course hosted the 10 & Under division.

Register Today for the Las Vegas Pro-Am!
PGA Members Free with Paid Team

Registration is open for the 2017 National Car Rental Las Vegas Pro Am presented by Colorado Golf and Turf! The event will be played Monday-Wednesday, November 11-13, 2017, at the Paiute Golf Resort. Entry into the event includes a two night stay at Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, transportation to and from the golf course daily, breakfast prior to each round of the event and more fun games and contests than ever before!

The entry fee is $3,900 per team ($975 per amateur). This event utilizes a 5-person team -- 4 amateurs and 1 professional.

Stacy Lewis, Chris Stroud, Several Prominent Athletes Doing Their Part in Hurricane Harvey Relief

Stacy Lewis won the LPGA Tour's Cambia Portland Classic to end a winless streak that stretched all the way back to June 2014. Under normal circumstances, that would have been the story. That became secondary when Lewis, who grew up just outside Houston, donated her $195,000 in winnings to the Hurricane Harvey relief effort.

RMGSA Hosting Fall Merchandise Show Coming Up

The Rocky Mountain Golf Sales Association will be holding its 2017 RMGSA Golf Merchandise Show on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 10-11. Participants will receive two (2) MSR points for attending.

Golf Magazine recently published its biennial rankings of the top 100 courses in the world and in the U.S., and a couple of Colorado layouts figure in the mix.

Thayer Birdies Final Hole to Edge Sutton and Win His 2nd CGA Mid-Amateur

These trips to the mountains for the CGA Mid-Amateur have worked out quite nicely for Chris Thayer in recent years.

The golfer from Walnut Creek Golf Preserve won the championship in 2014 at River Valley Ranch Golf Club in Carbondale. And on Sunday, the next time the Mid-Am was held in the high country, the Golden resident struck, well, gold again.
